This hotel is not the greatest hotel in Central Cape Town and is certainly not worthy of its 3-star rating. It is grubby and tatty. Upon entering the hotel you will immediately notice the dirty and torn carpets right in front of the reception desk. The welcome to the hotel was neither friendly or welcoming but rather just a function of taking your details, signing in, taking payment for your stay and handing you a key for your room. If you are on the upper floors you have to carry your luggage up trying not to touch the sticky dirty handrails. Along the passage to your room all the pictures are skew. Into one's room which I must admit is not too bad as it is fairly spacious and pretty clean albeit stains on the arm chair. The bedding appeared clean. The bed was another thing... thin and hard with a lean to the one side so one had to keep hanging on to prevent yourself from rolling to one side of the bed all night! The bathroom is small but functional however the shower cubicle has not seen any elbow grease for a while as it is a tad grimy. NOT ONE MENTION ANYWHERE IN THE ROOM OR BATHROOM ABOUT THE WATER CRISIS IN CAPE TOWN!
Breakfast is not to bad with a fair spread of breads, fresh fruit and warm dishes however the croissants were stale, the coffee poor and worst of all the floor dirty (not been swept and with liquid spills in one area), the chairs stained and woodwork sticky. Best of all upon entering the dining area there was a very tired looking waiter sitting on the counter with a draw pulled out as rest for her weary feet multi tasking by talking on her mobile phone while having a conversation with a fellow waiter all on top of their voices - we had little effect upon entering as they blatantly ignored us.
Checking out was a matter of handing in ones key having the tatty receptionist page through a grubby folio book, check to see if payment had been made without any invoice or thank you for you stay and simply carry with a private conversation that I had interrupted..
So, what could have been a wonderful stay was actually not great as it is evident that management has absolutely no control or input!

Room Tip: Cannot give any tips as I would never choose to return

A three star hotel, but just the place to stay in Cape Town when you have no intention of hanging out in a hotel and why would you in Cape Town. I would stay here again. Basic, but clean, nice staff and a good price.

Lady Hamilton hotel is located within walking distance of Long Street and a number of attractions. We were in a ground floor room overlooking the road and small car park. The room was a bit shabby and needed some repairs to woodwork and general
improvements. Pool doesn't get direct sunshine in September. Good breakfast. Don't expect to be able to change money at reception. We were told in the afternoon that we could change dollars the next morning at 7. We left at 8 and still hadn't been able to change them. There is a Travelex in Market Square.D

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms were a bit shabby.

I had a room on the ground floor. It was perfectly adequate for my needs. There is wi fi in the comfortable main lobby. Easy walk to restaurants and attractions. Feels very safe even late at night. Bar serves delicious ice cold beer.

Room Tip: I had a quiet ground floor room.
