You have not visited Cape Town if you haven't gone up Table Mountain. A breathtaking view of the city and surrounds. This is a must for any visitor to Cape Town. Queues might be long at times. It might be easier to go on a day that the weather is not perfect. Then the queues tend to be shorter.

This is a must when you visit Cape Town,as to see Cape Town from the top of Table Mountain then the Cable Car is an adventure not to be missed, the prices to travel on the Cable Car are typical tourist prices, but with the rate off exchange from British Pounds to S A Rands it is most reasonable,The sights travelling up by Cable Car is stunning as the floor of the Cable Cars slowly rotates as to let you see all the scenery, you can purchase your ticket to travel on the Cable Car at the lower Cable Car Station or you can purchase them from the tour bus driver if you use the tour buses that take you up to the cable car Station.

We only had 4 days in Cape Town and for the first three days Table Mountain was completely clouded over but fortunately good weather favoured us on our last day. We arrived at the base station at 8.30am and it seemed like everyone else in Cape Town had the same idea. The queue was a nightmare, well over 90 minutes and this was having booked in advance.
However, like everyone else we decided to hang on in on the expectation that the long wait would be worth it.
It most certainly was. The cable car journey in itself was awesome, the revolving floor enabling everyone to get a good 360 degree view and not miss out on any of the spectacular views. At the top we were rewarded for our patience with absolutely incredible views and a very enjoyable stroll around the summit. Rounding our trip off with a lovely coffee in the cafe we then headed back down on the cable car with only a 20 minute wait this time.
An absolute must and despite the frustration of having to queue for so long this experience is not to be missed.

Fabulous view if it is a clear day - but watch the weather. However, it is a major tourist destination and if it is clear sailing, then the lines at the lower terminus can be long and time consuming. Ditto for lines at the top to come down. Consider getting a ticket on the web which will speed up the process slightly.
