Description: Dine al fresco at the Oasis Bistro. The new à la carte menu offers an exquisite choice of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, as well as a selection of local classics. Oasis Bistro’s informal atmosphere makes it a warm and welcoming place to have a sunny bite. Complemented by an extensive wine and cocktail list, as well as its inviting terrace overlooking the swimming pool.

We ate at the Mount Nelson on a Sunday when they host their Jazz Brunch. The hotel is a five or ten minute cab ride from the V&A Waterfront depending on the traffic. The hotel is what I would describe as colonial style and the Oasis Bistro is set at the back of the hotel near the pool and the luscious gardens. The brunch is accompanied by a jazz duo, who tastefully jam away in the garden area as you eat.

Our table was on the terrace, which I think was more pleasant than indoors, however it didn’t feel crowded anywhere in the restaurant. The buffet itself looked almost too manicured to eat, although that thought doesn’t last too long when you stand before it. Everything was on offer from salads, seafood/shellfish, roast meats, curries, vegetables, dessert etc. The selection was absolutely extensive and the quality was outstanding. The sparkling wine and rose we chose were also very drinkable. The overall service from entering the hotel to the staff at the Oasis Bistro was highly attentive and professional.

We stayed in Cape Town for nine nights and ate here on our second day. We loved it so much that we tried to reserve a table for the following weekend, however we were too late. If you are thinking of eating here, book early enough to avoid disappointment. I certainly left with the impression that quality was more important than feeding large numbers of guests. As a final note, the meal is exceptionally good value for money.

Breakfast buffet has amazing options from fruit to pastries. Every thing we ate was fabulous and so so delicious. The service was brilliant, friendly, courteous and considerate of every need you could possibly have.

the high tea is really what everybody says it is: exceptional. BUT, the decor is dated (I am not talking about the classical ambience; which is great!).
the staff are mostly unfriendly and unhelpful!! there is no spark and customer focus. we had to call for our waiter SO many times!!!!

When you visit the Mount Nelson you expect more than 5 star Quality
Sunday buffet at R365 per person with a limited choice.
I was very happy with the food available - quality and quantity.
My guests however did not eat Red meat
The choices was a chicken curry or an over cooked fish stew.
We had to ask for things such as cutlery and crockery and more than once had to repeat the request.
Napkins were not always folded
Staff standing talking instead of attending to our needs.
This is the Mount Nelson and maybe my expectations are to high
