One tip is to book your table in advance. They are a popular restaurant- and you'll also know whether their restaurant is completely booked out as they are often used for private events. The view is amazing as it is situated at one of the highest points in Bo Kaap.

We were fortunate to have one of two tables right up against the balcony and enjoyed watching the sunset view of Table Mountain. On some nights their dinner is buffet style - it's random and often at the request of the large groups. If it's buffet night, like for us, they'll start off with three appetizers that are brought to the table. The buffet itself had salad, chutneys, lamb biryani, chicken curry, bobotie (one of the local specialties) and cape Malay style barbecue chicken. Everything was delicious - a bit of spice and sweetness. The only disappointment was their dessert selection, which was limited to vanilla ice cream. Total bill for 2 buffets, 3 sparkling waters, and ice cream was about 550 ZAR.

What a find! This is a hidden gem, well out of the hustle and bustle of all tourist traps.
Traditional, family run Cape Malay cuisine with additional specials too. Quite limited menu, but have the taster platters which are FULL of flavour.
They don't serve alcohol, but this wasn't a problem because the food was so tasty!
Will definitely return
Beautiful elevated view of Cape Town & Table Mountain too

If only rating the amazing prawn curry & fried rooti, this place is over the top. (And literally over the top...though just 500 meters up the street from where I've stayed the past two years in the Bo Kaap, the walk up includes 200 meters of elevation gain).
Then the downsides: service was unbelievably slow, my glass was dirty (a curry thumbprint), chairs are uncomfortable.
Back to positives: Sunday it was filled with families and extended families, I think mostly local from the Bo Kaap. Walking back down I passed Bismielleh and they were looking closed or emptied at this hour.

Amazing food. Great view. Personal attention from the owners made our lunch here a memory we will never forget. Cape Malay cuisine at its finest. Highly recommended.

Lovely place, we got a taxi up for dinner, as it's quite a hilly area. Great views of table mountain and the tablecloth of cloud. Friendly family service, restaurant is dry so don't expect beers etc on the menu. Cape Malay cuisine is great, good selection - I had a tasting platter of nibbles to start and a tasting plate of small dishes for mains, followed by a chai tea to finish. It's not a tourist place its a local restaurant run by a lovely family and feels really authentic and genuine, a nice change if you have spent a bit of time at the v&a waterfront. There was A mixed crowd of people in that night and it was full by 8:30pm. So impressed with a cape Malay cuisine I bought a recipe book to bring home. Really think they should hold daytime cooking lessons in this restaurant.
