“Excellent sushi”
Review of Shin Thai

This is a relatively unprepossessing restaurant on Regent Road, the main shopping street at the south end of Sea Point. From the outside it looks like many of the other Asian restaurants on the road, offering mainly Thai foods. Inside is very nicely laid out with comfortable seating.

Once inside, one of the offerings is the Buffet manu, which is mainly sushi and sashimi. The choice is a little limited (there is no squid, octopus or eel), but what there is is truly excellent. I would particularly recommend the sashimi and the rainbow roll. THe Tom Yam soup is also excellent, the broth tasting of tomato, chilli and coriander without being overpowering.

This was our third visit and each visit has been better than the previous one. This is an excellent restaurant with efficient, friendly service and a great sushi chef.

85 Regent Road, but its far easier to say right opposite the Spar shopping centre.

Having lunch I had the red prawn curry with prawns and it was divine. The presentation exactly what you'd experience in Thailand, as was the flavours and spices spot on.
A few different veggies like green beans and more marrow, but that I guess is to compensate for the availability.

Will definitely return, to try their buffet - all you can eat both hot Thai and sushi courses, costing R150.

Various sushi specials including an 8 piece for R68, as well as many platters some 20 pieces for under or just over R100.

Not holding out to be fine dining, but rather a genuine authentic casual dining experience, with good prices. Friendly service to match.

The food was good and fresh.
The decor was simple but pretty and the tables and cutlery was very clean. Service was good, take available.

Had a fabulous meal at Shin Thai. Everything was very fresh and very good quality. The restaurant is spotless, staff very obliging and the food is excellent value for money. Great to order the buffet and then share, especially the sushi.

We've just come from here and although all the food wasn't my cup of tea I have to give it a good review because.....
A) my husband and daughter loved the sushi.
B) my son ate all his chicken satay
C) when I came home and read other people's reviews I had to agree with the fact that they really do have a deep sense of pride in what they do. The waiter was very attentive and the chef came out to check we were enjoying our food.
I had the pad Thai which wasn't to my taste as I prefer it dry and this came with a sauce. Otherwise no complaints!!!
