We only went to Hout Bay for the market which was amazing with lots of handmade goods to buy and interesting snacks and coffee.Hout Bay itself was disappointing but to be fair we didn't see the beach .What we did see was quite dirty and there were several residents of the Shanty Town rummaging in bins which was sad to see.

Relaxing to walk around. You have to experience the food at Snoekies Awesome!
Shops are nice and the curious are always interesting. Lots of boat trips or see the locals feed the robs.

Hout Bay as such is a harbour village like many others close to Cape Town. If you are interested in wildlife however take a boat trip to Seal Island. It does not take long, but is worth the time and money. There are several tour operators and you may even snorkel among the seals.

We spent a week end at the Flora Bay Resort at the start of Chapman`s peak. We had good meals in the Outlook restaurant and the Fisherman`s Wharf. You can go on a boat trip. We visited the food and miscellaneous market in the old harbour.
