I love this hotel, it has an old world colonial feel with all the mod cons you would expect from a Belmond hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the grounds are amazing, you feel as if you're in the middle of the country as you lie by on of the pools, not in the centre of a major city.

The rooms are tasteful decorated with marble bathrooms and all the amenities you would expect. The breakfast was very good with a huge selection to satisfy all tastes. The afternoon tea is legendary and a must for all who stay here. Although a lot of business people use this hotel, it doesn't have the feeling of a normal business hotel - it is much more elegant than that.

An ideal place to be in the centre of Cape Town and highly recommended.

Room Tip: It's the old adage of the more you pay the better you get, but you get an amazingly comfortable bed and great bathroom in all the rooms.

Great hotel with many room options because it consists of several buildings acquired over the years in addition to the main hotel building. All of the staff were outstanding. Food in the Planet dining room was exquisite. Afternoon tea was great, but you have to control yourself to not eat too much of all that is provided! Beautiful grounds and pools. Excellent location right at the end of Company Gardens. Look forward to going back and staying for another 5-7 days.

Room Tip: The suites in the old Helmsley Building are huge, but the garden suites on the back pool are more beautiful. The general deluxe rooms in the main hotel building are quite ample ... you really don't need a suite here to have sufficient room.

We stayed here for the first few days of our honeymoon in Cape Town - it was simply fantastic. Colonial feel, service was exceptional. Food was great and they have a lovely bar that we had a few late nights in! Courtesy car to the Waterfront and up to the Cable Car on Table Mountain which we made use of. The most beautiful his and hers bathrooms in our room. I woudl love to go back here one day. The gardens and swimming pool were immaculate.

I booked a table for 2 for high tea at 1:30 on the 4th and was immediately acknowledged via E- mail and assured of my booking.
On arrival, we were really overwhelmed by the grandieur and beauty of the buildings, the interior and the gardens.
The weather was perfect to sit outside on the veranda. Our waiter welcomed us and explained in detail to us the varieties of teas we could choose from, the art of drinking tea, and the variety of delicacies we could enjoy.
It was an experience of a life- time and I can truly recommend visiting this beautiful place in the heart of Cape Town.

We are coming to the end of our stay and cannot rate this hotel too highly. There are many excellent hotels in Cape Town, but to my knowledge this is the only city centre hotel with outstanding gardens and tennis courts. Of course the history of the hotel and its excellent service are reason enough to chose it, but for anyone who plays tennis it is the ONLY option! I should also mention the extremely good professional who will give any guest one the best workouts/coaching sessions to be found anywhere.
