Description: Petiscos Restaurant opened its doors in 2006 with the aromas of both Portugal and Mozambique drifting through Cape Town's West Coast. Somewhat of a hidden oasis in the midst of fast food franchises, Petiscos doesn't venture into gourmet designer cuisine either. Instead it offers the kind of soul-satisfying food a Portuguese grandmother would have spent the whole Sunday afternoon cooking. From the Mozambican-inspired nacional cream sauce accented with beer from the region, served on juicy prawns to the traditional Portuguese peri-peri chicken; there is something for every palate. The place itself looks like a part of Lisbon's streets was imported and grafted onto a corner that celebrated the African fusion of Maputo. On Wednesdays and Thursdays (7:00 - 10:00 PM), Saturdays (8:00 - 11:00 PM) and Sunday lunches (12:00-3:00PM), an eclectic array of live music is played, from beloved 'pub' hits, to hot Latino tracks to soothing guitar medleys. Petiscos is a place for everyone: a romantic dinner date, an indulgent Sunday family lunch, a Saturday Latino party with friends or even functions or large groups. Come dine in a small corner of Portugal...in Cape Town! Andy Da Silva is the owner of Petiscos. Having left a mark with Senhor Prego, a popular hot-spot in Joz, where arguably, the biggest pregos were served this side of the equator; Andy brought his love of Portuguese and Mozambican cuisine to Cape Town. Together with his son Rudi, they form the heart of what is essentially a family-run business.

Relaxed atmosphere, fantastic authentic menu, great wine selection and very good service. Trinchado, Chicken Xai Xai, Caldo Verde, Grilled Peri Peri Chicken, Grilled Sardines to name but a few great dishes on offer. Live music on selected days.

Fast becoming a favorite of mine. Great vibe. And the food...pretty much the closest to Portugal that you can get!

Petiscos is a venue we frequently visit, being it midweek or weekends, but more so for a set menu Christmas lunch. The menu leaves you choosing from a great selection and there is nothing on there that is not worth trying. This, coupled with friendly hands on kind of staff and Manager, awesome vibe and great music makes for a great outing every time. This is not a place to miss...a must visit venue...

There are unfortunately very few Portuguese restaurants in Cape Town. Petiscos came recommended and did not disappoint. A major plus is the exceptional service, no pretentious nonsense so typical of the stiff upmarket CPT establishments that in general serve way below par meals at over the top prices in my personal opinion.
The food at Petiscos was excellent. For starters we had the rissois de camarao and caldo verde soup which were superb, as good as my Portuguese grandmother used to make! For mains, the prawn curry cooked in beer was delicious and went very well with our vino verde recommended by our very efficient and friendly waitress, what a pleasure to be served by someone without attitude for a change. We can’t wait to go back and look forward to trying the chourico and calamari starters followed by the chicken Xai-Xai. Well done Petiscos!!

Being a Mozambican Portuguese it is difficult to find authentic delicious food. Petiscos offers just this, fresh, tasty, traditional food. We had two delicious starters, Livers and the Trinchado. The prawn curry is a must and so is the Xai-Xai chicken. Place is always full be sure to book a table. Weekends there is live music. Service is exceptional.
