When you're used to London prices, if you are around this area you have to try this restaurant - not the best quality or setting for sure, but it is such good value and still very tasty.

Stopped here for a lite bite as recommended in trip advisor by Someone recommended this restaurant on trip adviser so we came to check it out...more than once! FISH BASKET was delicious and quickly prepared and served by a friendly waitstaff. Good place for family dinning with a view of the warfare and the water without the big ticket price of some of the more costly restaurants.

We used to pop into an Ocean Basket for a quick and reliable "feesh and cheeps" and a glass of cheap but drinkable white wine, usually around a shopping trip or cinema visit in one of Cape Town's malls. It was cheap and reliable.- you got what you expected.
Today we went for lunch at the V&A Waterfront branch. It was a big disappointment. Service was friendly, the drinks came promptly, as did bread and an acceptable sushi starter. My wife's main, of trout and prawns, had a piece of unidentified white fish added, which even the staff couldn't identify, and the trout was almost raw. My kingklip and calamari was served with cold grilled calamari, although the kingklip was ok.
Prices have gone up a lot since we last ate at an Ocean Basket, but the quality has gone down. Wine in particular looked expensive for generally cheap brands. Sorry Ocean Basket, but we will not be coming back, there are just too many low price point options these days.

Unlike the nearby Codbasket, this seemed to live up to the hype. Good food and service at good prices, but I was more impressed with the meat than the fish! My prawns were a bit dried out - disappointing, but the steak was very good
