I have been told this place is struggling, but the latest cost cutting measure is really bad news. The burgers here used to be excellent, however our " meal" yesterday was something else. Used to be around 90 rand for burger, chips and onion rings. Now it's 90 rand just for the burger and what they say is a side salad, ( one small tomato cut in half and a bit of lettuce ) if you want chips and onion rings it's an extra 60 rand making 150 rand for exactly what you used to get for 90 rand. That is far too much of an increase in price for the same meal. More cost cutting is the bun, it's now a very small, thin, soggy bun. There are lots of gay friendly restaurants around. Why do we gays allow these people to rip us off. Manhatten isn't really a friendly place anyway. The bar itself is never busy, everyone in there are with their own company, sat at tables and never interact with anyone else. They tried last year to get more money out of customers by raising the corkage to 100 rand, that didn't work and they soon put it back to 50 rand. Best advise is to avoid this place. We shouldn't have to be ripped off in such a manner. If it's burgers you like Hudsons or Mama Roccos ( no courage charge ) Green point, are better options, and very friendly places.
