I recently had the magnificent experience of dining at the Roundhouse with a group of friends. When we arrived we were greeted by friendly smiles and a view so breathtaking one needs to stop to soak it in. We had the 4 course winter menu prepared by Chef Dylan. Each course had my attention and was out of this world! The dishes were thoughtful (keeping to seasonal produce) and beautifully presented, I got the feeling that Chef Dylan himself foraged for ingredients not far from where we were sitting. To round it off, Marvin who was looking after us was very attentive with spacing the courses and keeping us hydrated. Thank you to Chef Dylan and the Roundhouse team for a great culinary evening! We will certainly be back.

We made a reservation in the morning for the same night dinner. On the phone they were polite and kind, inquiring about possible allergies and the occasion for the dinner. When we arrived the place was dark and abandoned, no people around or cars, we knocked on the door : " nobody home". We called the same number that we used for reservation 8 times - no answer.
Stay away. They had no decency to call us to say they decided to close that night due to the lack of customers.

We was treated to an unforgettable culinary experience by Chef Dylan Laity at the Roundhouse restaurant. It was a 5 course truffle themed menu with wine pairing.
We understand that with imported Italian truffles there definitely is no test run at the dishes! They were exquisite in every sense. Chef Dylan's flair and flavours were a perfect balance and with the unhurried service and excellent wine choice it all made for a perfect evening! We will be back in the not too distant future to taste other masterpieces prepared with passion and flair by Chef Dylan!

My daughter booked a table for Mother’s Day. When we were seated down and I got the menu (fixed price) I thought To myself “The chick to charge so much for lunch!” When the first course arrived, all 5 of us were “blown away” by the incredible taste combination. The butternut soup was simply outstanding, full of unique flavors. By far the best butternut soup we’ve ever had. For main course we had the fillet steak and the lamb dish. Both dishes were superb.
The desserts were out of this world. Full of flavor and unique combinations. Even though the price tag was high, this is a place we will definitely come back to.

So.......Bear with me here folks. I reviewed the Test Kitchen last year - and it was great. Really great. Full of theatre and flair, and great food. However. However...The Roundhouse is better. Not in terms of the show, but the food is wonderful. I mean really wonderful. A 5-course menu is offered with 3 “kleinjies”. These are the canapé equivalent but are so much more. The first is an undersold mackerel pate with apple gel and caviar. Wow! And i mean, Wow! The taste sensations continue through prawns, ox tongue, tuna, kran beef, spiced hake and ostrich. Raspberry soufflé is not the best I’ve had, but by them, who cares? So, so, so good. I went on a rainy Wednesday evening, expected fair to middling. Was ridiculously great. So, so good. I’ll stop now. Go to the Roundhouse and go soon. Stretch to a bottle of 2010 “Z” rather than the pairing.
