i had heard a lot about Ricks and was looking forward to eating there. i must say it lived up to its reputation. we had dinner there and from the time we walked in there i loved the place. the vibe is good. we were there on a very cold and wet night in winter and yet the place was warm and cosy. we sat upstairs which was really nice and cosy. our waiter, by the name of Michael, was excellent. he was great at recommending good cocktails as well as the food on the menu, which is quiite extensive. overall a really great experience.

Working on a prestigious cruise line cruising around the globe and tasting dishes served locally, I must say Ricks in CapeTown has rather left me a very impressive remarks from the staff welcoming us at the front door, cocktails served at the cozy bar and followed by delicious tasty food. Excellent selection of food in the menu by the way. It was awesome!
Thanks to Ricks, it made my little vacation in CapeTown very special. Highly recommendable and I'm definitely coming back.

I love the decor and the setting, it's really cozy and cool. It was a cold night, could feel the heat from the fire.

The waiter wasn't as attentive as he should have been, my plate stood empty on my table for a while and offered the desert menu after we reminded him.

The food was good. The chili poppers was GOOD - it was so spicy and flavorful. So was the prawns and calamari. It's a mixed review, due to the fact that my BMB Burger had such a small portion of bacon and literally one slice of Brie (the size of a thumb) that did not even cover the burger. I could only split the Brie into two bites - of a 8 bit burger. The actual burger, was amazing. The patty was so so so flavorful, cooked to perfection, one of the best I've had. So basically a gorgeous patty with toppings that seemed more like an afterthought than anything else. It's a pity.

Thank you for taking the time writing to Trip adviser. We appreciate constructive criticism from our customers as it helps us to improve the “Rick’s” experience for everybody.
I was rather shocked to hear about your disappointing Burger topping and have to apologize for it. Our Burgers and especially the toppings are by no way just an afterthought. Having a to small topping on your Burger must have been a mistake from the kitchen as we have very high standards and usually keep to the recipes.
Unfortunately you did not alert your waiter or the manager as we would have loved to sort out your problem with the Brie cheese there and than.

I have to apologize for the waiter not immediately removing your empty plate and I will make sure that this will be a point on the agenda at our next Waiter training.

I hope you accept our sincere apologies and hope you join us soon for dinner again.
Kind regards
Per

Although their dishes are not cooked in Tagines - was a little disappointing to hear, the lamb tagine was excellent, great use of morrocan spices, good meat texture and we'll balanced with perfectly cooked vegetables - carrot, slightly tart beetroot, touch of tomato, walnuts gave good texture but lacked flavour themselves. Good meat and source consistency and although a touch pricey, worthy of recommendation. Well done 9/10.
