The food was delicious but the service really stood out to us. Arthur might be the best waiter we've ever encountered. He was very attentive, thorough in explaining the courses and probably the nicest guy you'll ever meet. You can tell he is just a genuinely happy person.
He really added to an already great dining experience.

Food A+. Service A+++.

Went to Bombay Brasserie twice during our recent Xmas break in Cape Town. First - the really positive things.This is a beautiful room in the Taj Hotel - elegant and a great " old school" dining space. Next - great staff and service. They really looked after us and genuinely care about the diner.Good wine list - entirely South African - but that is no bad thing. We enjoyed a great Stellenbosch Pinotage and some lovely crisp local whites. The food is presented beautifully - from a delicate Amuse Bouche to start, palate cleansing sorbet's between courses and an excellent selection of appetizers. But... the food falls a little flat - some dishes were ok ;but it lacked the punch and intensity I would expect in classical Indian cuisine. We liked the experience( which is why we went back..) but I was left just a little disappointed.

I wish I could review the food at the restaurant but somehow they lost our reservation and then treated us extremely poorly.

My wife called from the car using the speaker so we all heard her make the reservation which included the gentleman asking is anyone in our party had a food allergy and him noting that my daughter is allergic to nuts and him saying see you tomorrow at 7.30pm.

When we arrived we were told rudely that we didn't have a reservation. They said that they would look into it as they were full. They then ushered us away and made us wait in the lobby of the hotel, not inside the restaurant or even outside it. The hotel manager came to say they could not accommodate us but if we wanted we could eat in the coffee shop and order from the restaurant menu. Indignantly we left

The food was excellent but service towards the end was horrendous. Had to wait 50 mins for our desert and nono skiing waiters to offer service on drinks (wine and water) as had dissappeared leaving table uncleared. After spending close to 75£ per person for a party of 8 it was a most dissappointing end to what had started out as a lovely Christmas dinner. And it took another 20 mins after asking the bill to get it. Style up !

We made a reservation at this restaurant as we were staying at the same hotel. It had great reviews and we were looking forward to good Indian food but to our dismay when we arrived they refused to seat us since we had a child with us and it was after 8pm. The hostess did not ask me if we had a child with us when I was making a reservation. She did not bother to inform me about their child policy!!!! We even talked to the restaurant manager and the hotel floor manager but only apologies. We had to go to another place and had good Italian food....95 Keerom. They laughed at the child policy which apparently was quoted as being a Cape Town thing!!
Disgusting and shameful for a tourist destination.
