Underwhelming with Poor Location

Review of Taj Cape Town
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 weeks ago
We stayed for three nights at the Taj as part of a brief stay for our honeymoon. While the Taj did not do anything special for us for the occasion, we thought the service was adequate. Everyone from the bell-hop to breakfast staff were helpful and something we certainly appreciated. Downside is the lack of ability to walk to tourist locations/restaurants. Breakfast is great and was a highlight. Would recommend a mountain facing view as it is incredible for sunset!

We had one night ina suite and three in an 'ordinaryu' room. Both were excellent; very clean and comfortable. In the hotel the staff were very friendly and efficent. The breakfast was sumptious and delicious with both European and Indian dishes supplied. The hotel is reasonabloy close to the V & A waterfront.

Room tip: Don't get the hotel to supply and cab from the airport. Their charge is far to expensive.

This is a wonderful hotel!
The staff are so friendly and warm.
From their driver who collected me at the airport (in a very smart SUV), the porters, the doormen, the spa therapist, waitrons- every one of the staff members were incredibly kind.
The Taj felt like a familiar place rather than most cold hotels. This is what sets the Taj apart from other luxury hotels we have stayed at.
And yes the Taj gets 10 out of 10 for luxury, the rooms(the mountain room was fabulous!!), the food, the spa treatment and the attention to detail were all truly extraordinary.

Recently stayed at the Taj Hotel in Cape Town and had an absolutely fantastic experience. All staff from reception, concierge and the restaurants were incredibly welcoming and attentive. The room was luxurious and spacious.

The meal at the Bombay Brasserie was exceptional.

Breakfast’s with the staff at the Mint Restaurant was brilliant especially the Sous Chef Abdur Rahim and his team offered personal service with attention to detail.

Recommend the Taj Cape Town.

We chose Taj Cape Town because we wanted to be away from a super touristy area, but still wanted to be able to explore Cape Town on foot and we were not disappointed. The service was excellent, food in all restaurants was delicious and rooms very large, well stocked. We were escorted to our room by a friendly staff member who explained everything well. Our view of Table Mountain was spectacular. The concierge helped us arrange tours, We would highly recommend this hotel.

Room tip: Uber is a good way to travel around .
