Unusually heavy traffic for Cape Town delayed us for our 4:30 Jiva spa booking and then the reception could not find our reservation. Not starting well for our anniversary celebration, we thought. But the spa was notified, the error (on their part) was acknowledged and while we luxuriated upstairs in their "Soma" couples treatment, complete with bath filled with rose petals, they moved us into a perfect mountain-facing room. The candlelit lobby greeted us en route to the Bombay Brasserie, where complimentary champagne was followed by exquisite coconut prawn curry and lamb biryani dishes with accompaniments. The bed being so comfortable, we slept too late and showed up at the Mint restaurant between breakfast and lunch. No matter, they were quick to seat and serve us, no begrudging and all sweetness. After checkout, requested bottles of water for our walk through the nearby Company's Garden were cheerfully produced, gratis. A great, romantic stay; will return at the next opportunity.

Room Tip: Mountain-facing is worth requesting.

We stayed a week with our family in May. The service, location, value for money, and the hotel itself were outstanding and my husband as a former hotelier is very hard to please!
We would recommend this hotel to anybody and we would definitely stay here if we were to visit Cape Town again.
My husband generally dislikes buffets but the quality, selection and service at breakfast was exceptional.

South Africa is a country of contrasts. When it comes to customer service, you get the worst and the best...and you don't always know beforehand which it's going to be. But staying in the Taj, is was five star service all the way. Of course not only the service....the rooms were huge and beautifully furnished, the in-house restaurant great, amazing breakfasts...in short, we have nothing negative to say about the centrally located hotel. We stayed there for three days and also happened to celebrate our wedding anniversary there. Somebody in our group (still a mystery as to whom the culprit/s were) dropped the word and when we got to our room after a dinner at a nice restaurant, the bath was filled with warm water and the petals of what must have been a hundred roses. Next time I'm in Cape Town, we will definitely stay in the Taj again! We travel a lot and the Taj rates as one of the best we have ever been to.

Room Tip: Not all rooms has a great view. Ask for room with a view of Table Mountain.

Staff was well trained. Hotel was clean, updated and possesses fantastic views of Table Mountain! Located within walking distance of many of central Cape Town attractions, and concierge was extremely helpful in making arrangements for day trips. I felt pricing was a bit on the high side for what you got (room were not over-the-top luxurious nor extremely large), but it was during high season, so I take that into consideration. Overall, I would definitely return to this hotel if we were to revisit Cape Town.

Room Tip: Request view of Table Mountain

The Taj Cape Town is conveniently located in the CBD. Upon arrival we were promptly checked in and were escorted to our room. The suite was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was marvelous and there were many items to choose from. The fitness center was modern and clean and also offered a lap pool. Overall the hotel offered terrific service, I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Request a northern facing room with views of Table Mountain
