This is a story about a top class hotel with some odd service issues. Some good friends and I frequent this hotel on a regular basis to enjoy there smoking lounge. we prefer to refer to it as a stogie lounge. There are not many places if any that can compare with the luxurious wooden panelling, leather lounges of this gem of a cigar lounge. There range of cigars is also as one would expect from a top drawer establishment. So heres the really odd part. Firstly I would expect the Taj to feature a superb range of South African wines especially due to the nature of it's discerning clientele. No so! In fact we now aquire our wine from the boutique that strangely does offer great wines right inside the hotel. Why does the Taj not have it's own premier wine list on offer from some of the many superb wineries all around us? Secondly, management has taken a decision to NOT serve snacks after 6:00pm in the lounge and cigar bar areas. Hullo!! With the Twankey around the corner offering great snacks from there kitchen- whats the deal here? Fine cigars, fine wines and delectable tapas go together. Odd isnt it?
There Brassiere restaurant however is next level! Really superb possibly even eclipsing bukhara. Twankey, there pub is also a must. Simply magnificent.

Dear Valued Guest
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are saddened that we failed to deliver on our usual Taj Cape Town standards with regard to the snacks after 18h00. Our food and beverage director is addressing this with his entire team. We certainly hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to Taj Cape Town. When planning your next trip I invite you to make contact with my office.
Kind Regards

As far as hotel experience goes, it is pretty hard to top the Taj service. The rooms are fantastically decorated. Not much of a view in the room I stayed in but the amenities more than make up for it. The food at Mint is great and I really liked the breakfast spread. Highly recommended.

Great place to stay in Cape Town! We did a conference there for 150+ people and every single delegate had nothing but rave reviews, and these are seasoned jet-setters not easily pleased
Rooms were great. Food was awesome. Setting great and the staff were superb and attentive to everyone's needs.

Excellent service right from the Door. Close to the Parly, Museums and lovely local restaurants close by. :)
Restaurant staff remember your name , very friendly. Food is first class,
Try the Fresh market produce sale on Fridays just outside on the mall with local delicacies.

Room Tip: Get the room facing Table Mountain as from 6 th floor...awesome

Check in for one night to attend a business dinner, arrived at the hotel after a flight at around 1100 am, was told no room was available and checkin could only be possible after 1400 pm.

The receptionist (if remembered correctly was Stacy?) did took my cellphone number and said she will advise when room will be ready, but never called!

Eventually I went after 1400 to asked if room was ready!

A R 500 was requested from my credit card, as a guarantee, which was deducted from my account, in case of any minibar consumption, first time I saw a hotel requesting this either locally or internationally, rather unusual approach!

Wifi was never explained on arrival but have tried to connect to the hotel Ibahn network, inconsistent and unsuccessful after many tries, had to rely on my wifi router.

It shows it is available but when connected it cuts off immediately!!
One of the front office staff tried to assist later in the evening ....to no avail...

Room was neat and spacious, great bathroom.

Breakfast the next morning was funny, it was 0620, service and kitchen staff was around, offered to go to buffet, but all dishes were still empty, basic breakfast offerings.

Thank you
