Supposedly the favorite of the woman at hotel guest services, but would not be surprised if Mama Africa has some sort of agreement with the Westin Cape Town. The food was terribly disappointing and we were placed far away from the entertainment (which might not have been a bad thing).

noisy ,very noisy .food mediocre salad was a few leaves with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese steaks edible but little or no seasoning, and mustard a mission..the band should play in an open park not inside a restaurant which has no acoustic sound proofing, such as drapes or rugs .this is an expensive steakhouse, with drums .take earplugs and a notepad in order to communicate with friends!!

We loved the live music in Mama Africa. The night we visited they had a great local band playing. The food was OK, but at least it had a local African flair, which was quite hard to find in Cape Town.

Our group of 11 must have eaten at 25 different restaurants in South Africa on our last visit - Mama Africa was the only one that every person said they'd skip next time. We made reservations early - but our group of 16 was seated at a table that was meant for no more than 10 people. Our waitress was extremely rude when we asked to add another smaller table. The cover charge for the band was R10 - but we were seated in an area where we couldn't even see the band. They were mediocre - playing a wide variety of music - none of it very good. I would rather they just played a cd of typical african music. The restaurant was very loud - I couldn't even carry on a conversation with the people seated next to me at my own table. The food was okay - but nothing to rave over. If you're looking for African game - try the City Grill....
