We booked ourselves in for dinner and the pre-dinner drumming session. The drumming session was amazing. Each person got their own drum and was thought how to play the drum. It was spectacular when everyone played together in sync. Would highly recommend booking the drumming session! You will not regret it.

Dinner was scrumptious and served tapas style for sharing. They offered a tasting menu of about 8-10 dishes that ranged in flavours from all over Africa. Portions were good and the range was good as well. The performances during dinner added so much more zest to the whole dining experience. To end the whole night, wait staff and kitchen staff went on stage for a final performance.

Once of the best dining experiences I had in South Africa!

We LOVED Gold!! Such a quirky, fun, African-themed restaurant with an incredible 8-course set dinner showcasing dishes from all across Africa.
Our evening started in the main "hall" where we watched an amazing performance of drumming and joined in with our own drums in the crowd.
We then spent about 2.5 hours enjoying every single dish, while performers came along dancing and singing traditional African songs. We also had a facepainter draw things on our faces and then got invited up to do some very fast, fun dancing which was great.
The food and drink were fantastic, we could've eaten there every night and enjoyed it each time.
I honestly couldn't recommend it more highly - it was the best evening of our honeymoon and left us very "heady". Absolutely wonderful!

we went to this restaurant while staying in cape town waterfront. It was a very typical restaurant that you would expect in africa. All the food was typical food that is eaten in africa. I must admit i am a fussy eater so i did not eat much, but the group that i was with said it was excellent and enjoyed every bit of it.There is a show while you are eating, where ladies and mundane ,dances typical of there villages. They were dressed in beautiful coloured clothes and were very entertaining. They then played the drums and then it was the customers turn to play the drums. Then they sprinkled you with gold dust for good luck.In all a unusual experience.

we picked Gold for the experience and it didn't disappoint, our charming waitress informed us around the 7 courses which where ok . The dancers and drummers where really great and made a point of ensuring all the diners where involved. Definitely to be thought of as a 'good evening out' rather than just food.
For Europeans Capetown is a cost effective choice o matter which end of the market you choose so go for it.

Wonderful way to spend a family Christmas Eve in Cape Town

A varied selection of African specialities to taste with face painting to get adults and children into the vibe. Music was superb and beautiful traditional dress.

Fabulous night for all the family.
