Had dinner here on our first night in Cape Town after our initial plans fell through. The food was good, and we were particularly impressed with the charcuterie board my partner ordered. The slower service is the main thing that made this review a 4 rather than a 5

Waited too long for 2 beers as part of our order for Oysters to start then to share a seafood platter. Beers arrived apparently they were being chilled as to warm! We would have happily had a different beer but were not asked . Then had a further wait for the Oysters which eventually arrived at which stage we cancelled the platter as we were not enjoying the experience. The waiter made no attempt to placate us and we paid and left. We come to Cape town every year but won’t be paying you a visit again!

We are staying at the Victoria & Alfred Hotel, so we have the pleasure of the included breakfast each day, and we have also eaten dinner there twice so far. Always a treat. The staff is warm, friendly and welcoming, as well as efficient. Our personal favorite is Guylain, who never fails to greet us with an amazing smile, followed by impeccable service. Also high on our list is Melvin, who mixes great service with amazing patience and humor.

This is an excellent restaurant attached to the Victoria and Alfred Hotel. We had the most wonderful oysters and white wine whilst sitting at an outside table with the most impressive views of the harbour and Table Mountain. The cost was much less than one might expect from a restaurant in such a perfect setting and it really was tremendous value for money. The service from Junior 2, aided when necessary by Sylvester, was quite outstanding and both were a tremendous asset to the restaurant. I would certainly recommend this restaurant for a snack or a meal.
