A beautiful gem of a place in Cape Town

It’s hard to describe just how wonderful this place. First, it’s stunning. It’s tastefully decorated, with lovely views. Second, it’s hard not to sleep well in the very comfortable bed. Third, the breakfasts are delicious and generous. You won’t go hungry. Did I mention they have a cake of the day? That alone is reason to stay here. But most importantly, the staff are true gems. They are beyond kind, bending over backwards to please. Every single one of them. I’ve traveled to nearly 50 countries, so believe me when I say The Tree House is a very special place. I even changed my plans so I could stay a second time here. It would be a mistake to stay anywhere else in Cape Town.

Loud traffic noise 24/7

The staff at this hotel are great. The manager in particular is excellent - he really cares about the experience of his guests.

However BEWARE! The room was not as advertised. It was dark, and facing a busy road and we could hear loud traffic noise 24/7.

We understand that the manager tries to avoid allocating guests this room, and the owner knows that the glazing in the room is insufficient and plans to re-do it this year. In the mean time, the owner continues to allow guests to stay in this room and charges full fees for it.

The manager tried to find resolution for us but the owner was not cooperative. Finally, we were offered a 20% discount for one night - which we declined. We are taking up this mis-advertisement with the booking platform, so that this does not happen to others.

We get a lot of great feedback about the location of our hotel, right in the middle of the best that Cape Town has to offer, and so, like most cities, there is a noise level which is unavoidable. In the case of The Tree House, we are fortunate that most rooms face the bay. There are also some rooms which face Signal Hill. These are the entry level rooms, which you booked, and are generally very popular.

We understand that noise sensitivity is very personal. On realizing your sensitivity, the team tried everything to accommodate you elsewhere, but you declined to move, which is regrettable.

A pleasant stay at a lovely hotel.

A lovely hotel situated away from the hustle and bustle of the V&A water front, but within easy walking distance. Very friendly and attentive staff. Comfortable and quiet room. Delicious cooked breakfasts! Hotel offers transport to any location you desire within the locality. However, this is expensive when compared to Uber, which we used, which was about 50% cheaper!
I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Room tip: Uber offers better value than hotel transport.

Lovely staff, nice rooms, good location!

This was a great boutique hotel for our first adventure to South Africa and Cape Town specifically. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a standard room and it had all the amenities. The staff really makes your stay wonderful. They were very helpful and kind. We loved Peter who drove us all over Cape Town and gave us safety tips. We used the lounge and ordered in food one evening. We loved the 3 o’clock cake and breakfasts were lovely. It was too cold to use the pool, but we were able to enjoy the peaceful setting. We tended to use the hotel's driver or Uber and didn’t walk at night, but during the day the walk to the waterfront was quick and easy. We used the laundry service and it was quickly done. All in all the four couples that stayed had a great time and we would highly recommend this hotel!

Lovely introduction to South Africa

Nice rooms, great location, good food and friendly and accommodating staff. Driver always available. Sheila in particular was friendly,informative,helpful and fun to talk with. Hotel was on a non busy side street within easy walking distance to the Waterfront and Bo-Kaap neighborhood.
