Our stay here in mid-May was a delightful experience. This small hotel has a wonderful location on a hill opposite the waterfront. It only takes a couple of minutes (using the stairs/ramp from the hill) to access the waterfront restaurants, Victoria Mall and all the other activity of the area. The very helpful staff will also arrange any taxi service you need during your visit.
Our upstairs room was luxurious, spacious and had a great views of the waterfront, the Time Ball Tower and the Dock House garden and pool. Nighttime music from the waterfront can be heard in the distance. This was not a problem for us as it was muted by our beautifully-draped, closed windows (the nights were cool) and seemed to end each night before 11 pm. We had no room problems although more outlets to use as a charging station would have been useful.
Breakfast is included and can be had in any of the three hotels owned by this group. The Dock House breakfast room is elegant & small with personal service. Breakfast buffets can be had at the two other hotels one of which is located right across the courtyard from the Dock House.
The pool seemed nice & clean but the weather was too cool during our stay for swimming (which we really didn't miss with all the other things to do in and around Cape Town).

We were originally booked in the Dock House's sister property, the Victoria Hotel but when we arrived they said since we were on our honeymoon they would like to upgrade us to the 5 star Dock House. We were thrilled with the room! It's big and grand and elegant with amazing views of the Waterfront. I loved the huge bathtub and the large balcony. The room was always clean and we loved the snacks that housekeeping brought up each evening. The free breakfast downstairs was delicious, and you can also go to the Victoria Hotel for breakfast as well if you're craving more variety.

Yes, there is some noise at night from the bars across the street, but it wasn't loud enough to disturb you (although the honking did get annoying). Besides that, this is the perfect hotel and we really enjoyed our stay.

Our second visit to this beautiful oasis of a hotel. The manager Craig could not have been more helpful or professional. Cannot fault anything about it, the staff are all courteous and proficient, the rooms are clean and well equipped and the breakfasts are superb. Cannot rate it highly enough

Room Tip: Close to Waterfront

I am drawn to historical buildings so the Dock House Hotel caught my attention based on its look and feel. The room was beautiful! Cosy breakfast area, superb staff and location, location, location!
Appreciated the historical "ball" that indicated to fishermen when it was high tide.

Staying at the Dock House was a perfect way to end our African Honeymoon. We originally booked our stay in Cape Town at the Victoria & Alfred hotel. The room they gave us had several issues and they had no other rooms available so they transferred us to the Dock House. The Dock House was outstanding and we were so fortunate for the upgrade. The hotel was very luxurious but also intimate and cozy. There were only 6 rooms and it was so quiet that we often felt like we had the place to ourselves. Our room was on the second story and was very spacious, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was enormous. We also had a private balcony with spectacular views overlooking the Cape Wheel and the V&A waterfront. The breakfast was delicious; our favorite was the eggs benedict with springbok. Also each night when we returned to the room the maids would leave us a small dessert on our nightstand.

The manager Craig was one of the best in the business. He was full of information and suggestions and if we had a question he couldn’t answer he looked it up and got right back to us. He even went out of his way to find a contact in the V&A Waterfront to help us ship wine back home. Instead of giving us the man’s contact information he actually walked us over to the store and introduced us to the owner. The first night when we returned to our room from dinner (which he arranged for us) we found rose pedals on the bed and a bottle of champagne on ice. It was so romantic and we felt like royalty!
