Excellent small Sushi & Sashimi Restaurant: Fresh and a lot! We (4 Adults, all family from Germany) went there 2 times in one week (on March 13th and 15th, 2016). The food was fresh and a lot, the service was fast and friendly. The Salmon-Sashimi was huge compared with the price and really good. The Sushi-Sashimi-Combination was very good as well. The prices were all modest.
The environment was modest as well: Simple seating, no pomp. May be that for your birthday or for a romantic date you expect a restaurant fitted out more luxuriously, but for good eating at modest prices that was enough.
When we get back to Capetown we will go back there again.

Simple place that seems to rely on well made sushi for their strong reputation. They only had the basics when I was there: salmon, tuna, prawns. Still, the quality of the fish and creativity behind the rolls was really wonderful. They clearly work very hard, and are exceptionally friendly and helpful. You will not go wrong choosing sushi here.

Very mediocre. The owner made a big deal about us booking(apparently he likes to appear very exclusive). Sushi was overrated and many of the fried varieties tasted really oily. Disappointing.

Went here for late lunch. It was completely empty by then so we didn't have to wait for service. Service was very good and fast, if a bit abrupt. We had fried tofu for starters and that was quite good. The sushi was good but, Cape Town being home to such excellent sushi restaurants, it has too much competition to be rated higher. The portions were large and the sushi rolls themselves were quite big. The "tuna" roll we ordered was cooked, actually fried tuna, unbeknown to us. The prawn roll was also fried. Gave us the impression that they tend to fry everything here.
And oh, it was very cold. Granted it was winter but a portable heater would have been nice. Perhaps we would have stayed for dessert.

The food is freshly made for each customer, so it takes time, but it is excellent. Go with friends, or take a book, and the wait won't seem so long.
