Description: Addis in Cape! Voted best African Eatery in Cape Town, an authentic Ethiopian restaurant that caters for Non-vegetarian, Vegan and Vegetarian clients. We provide a unique communal dining experience you, your family and friends will remember. From traditional hand-wash ceremonies to our traditional Ethiopian coffee we promise a memorable experience. Ethiopian cuisine is famous for its rich aromas and generous use of herbs and spices. The country was historically situated on trading routes that included the trade of many exotic spices; this history has had a tremendous influence on the taste of Ethiopian food as we know it. Today most of the herbs and spices are blended and prepared in the home with great love and attention, as are those used in Addis in Cape. The dishes that you taste here are unique to Ethiopia and we are proud as a restaurant to share them with you.

First visit but liked the look of the menu. It did not disappoint. Both vegan and non vegan options were shared at our balcony table and every one was delicious. Decided to try the platter which gave a taste of most of the mains. The flavours and spices are superb. Great for a gluten free too. Injera is so light and enjoyable we landed up ordering an extra platter. Highly recommended if you enjoy flavoursome spicy food.

We got the 3 course vegan option to share and were delighted. As well as delicious food, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was wonderful. We felt like we didn't just have dinner, but a full joyful experience.

This is an experience. The food is authentic and the injera is other worldly. The ambience of the place transports you to a time of fantasy of sitting in Queen Sheba’s court. If you are visiting Cape Town this is a must on your itinerary.

When you arrive at Addis in Cape you immediately start to feel the welcoming atmosphere created by both the friendly staff and warm colours of the furniture. The wooden chairs are small and the little round tables are shared between the other people you're eating with.

I went with quite a big group and since we didn't know what to order the waiter just suggested the set menu. The option was gluten free but even if you're vegan or vegetarian just say the word and you'll be properly served.

Before the food arrives the waiter passes around with warm water for you to wash your hands, since you'll be eating without any piece of cutlery.

When the food is served it is quite a show, same as if you order the Ethiopian coffee.

The food is delicious, but watch out if you can't handle spicy things!

At the end of the meal you will be given a hot towel to clean your hands and it really is the best way to finish such an experience.
