Description: Addis in Cape! Voted best African Eatery in Cape Town, an authentic Ethiopian restaurant that caters for Non-vegetarian, Vegan and Vegetarian clients. We provide a unique communal dining experience you, your family and friends will remember. From traditional hand-wash ceremonies to our traditional Ethiopian coffee we promise a memorable experience. Ethiopian cuisine is famous for its rich aromas and generous use of herbs and spices. The country was historically situated on trading routes that included the trade of many exotic spices; this history has had a tremendous influence on the taste of Ethiopian food as we know it. Today most of the herbs and spices are blended and prepared in the home with great love and attention, as are those used in Addis in Cape. The dishes that you taste here are unique to Ethiopia and we are proud as a restaurant to share them with you.

What a great evening, a very different way of dining that is very social. great vegan options available including some vegan wine. Service and food was very good. Down side , small portions and a bit on the expensive side. I was very quickly reminded that it is Cape Town and should expect it.

The best Restaurant experience in long time! Very friendly staff and all very knowledgeable about the menu! The food was delicious, unpretentious and very well presented!

Loved the food - eating with our hands, using injera (flat bread) instead of cutlery to scoop up the varied dishes from a shared platter.
Authentic atmosphere - sitting on low seats and hand washing at the table.
Friendly helpful waiters who guided us through menu choices.

I went here with a friend and the place was packed but they happily found us space. The service was excellent and we had them suggest what we should eat and it was amazing! We ordered the sharing menu, four meat two vegetable and had a great bottle of wine and amazing authentic Ethiopian coffee at the end all for the equivalent of £32! Can’t recommend this enough and it’s on Long street which is a experience in its self. Definitely visit this place if you are in Cape Town.

I’ve been to Cape Town three times in the last decade and each time I’ve made a point of eating at Addis in Cape. Admittedly, part of the attraction is that the experience is so different to anything I can get at home, but simple novelty would belie the quality of the food.

Second admission: I have no idea if this is authentic Ethiopian cuisine. I can state with confidence; however, that the variety of food and range of flavours demonstrates a keen understanding of good food and it does not disappoint.

The mixed platter is an opportunity to taste much of what Addis in Cape has to offer but actually, dining at Addis is a complete end-to-end experience which starts with ritual hand washing - the finger food nature of dining will not be to everyone’s taste - and ends with the dark, Ethiopian coffee.

Superb.
