I like the Hussar for three simple reasons: good steaks, good service, reasonable prices.
We stopped at the Mouille Point location tonight for a steak, on the way home from another venue. The waiter looked out of the window while he took our order. I asked for a 200 gms bone-in fillet. 'Only three hundred grams' was his bored response, as he gazed at the passing traffic. So 300 it was, though I couldn't tell the difference from the 200 gms I'd enjoyed at the Camps Bay branch a week previously.
My partner ordered a Greek salad. She said the feta was good but the whole was smothered in red onions.
Wine? There were only three wines by the glass on the menu; in a land positively flowing with wine, this seemed a blatant effort to push you towards a bottle. We resisted. The wine was ok but we both left half a glass.
The meal for two came to R475, with an unmerited tip of 15%. An underwhelming experience.
