Having read the different opinions of the bistro here, we decided to try it prior to the theater production. The menu is somewhat limited, but that does not worry me. We decided to try the venison burgers for a quick meal.
The burgers were accompanied by a single bowl of "skinny" chips (fries). It did seem a little sparse as an offering for the price but then I looked at the burger. The venison was ostrich (not sure if it qualifies as venison) but that is where the negatives stop. Firstly the patty was no less than 20mm thick (almost an inch) and cooked perfectly. Consistency light pink right through. It is easy to either over- or under cook a patty, especially such a thick one, and I have to congratulate the chef on this one. My wife's burger was exactly the same. There was a light onion-based sauce I did not quite place, but it worked well to counter the ostrich which can easily be dry.
Service was attentive and friendly, and the M'D was pleasant. I used an app and we spoke about the implications for them. Indeed a pleasing experience. I give it three stars although I would like to give 3,5. It is better than average (3), but not quite 'very good' (4).
I recommend add a little extra to the burger ensemble to increase value for money, but we will be back for more of the same.
