We booked for one night at Olive Grove on our way to Cape Town and were told that someone would phone us on the day to confirm our dinner arrangements. When no-one contacted us, we phoned from the road only to be told that they did not have our booking (we had it confirmed in writing) and it was too late for us to make dinner arrangements. The gent who took our call was most unhelpful. We ended up making arrangements to stay somewhere else in Beaufort West
Hi guest. I am sorry that your booking turned out to be a mess. We, as the new owners of Olive Grove, took ownership on 1 December 2022, and has since been cleaning up and educating our staff on how to treat guests. We are also in a process of updating the facilities and interior.
So please have patience with us and come and visit again.
No generator to assist. Only candles.
No meals or braai facilities. Only blaming Loadshedding and not prepared to make any plans to assist us. Requested the Manager Neska to refund me and was informed to contact Booking.com because she will decline the the booking. Still waiting for my refund.
We stayed at Olive Grove Guest Farm en route to Cape Town and were very happy with the chalets. The unit was very clean and all the ammenities were in good condition. The evening was very cold, so we were grateful for the heated blankets, as well as the cookies and tea/coffee/milk that was supplied.
Beaufort West was just a stopover for us as on the way back from Kruger to Cape Town. What a lovely last day of our holiday! After a long drive from Bloem, we loved stretching our legs following the signposted walking trail, which taught us about some of the the flora and fauna of the Karoo and history of the area. This is a farm whose owners have taken great pains to preserve and celebrate as much of the natural environment as they can.
The rooms are comfortable - we stayed in a suite rather than a self-catering unit. The pool area looked very nice, although it was mid-winter so we weren't planning to swim.
We got a braai pack and the local lamb was delicious - just a heads up that the braai pack does not contain any salad and we couldn't seem to buy anything fresh at any of the farm stalls between Bloem and Beaufort West, so if you were planning on braaiing, you'll need to bring in salads from somewhere else. The other option would be to order a full 3 course meal from the restaurant there, which you need to arrange ahead of time.
I'd definitely stop here again!
Great out of town stop on an olive farm. A warm welcome followed by a walk through the olive groves accompanied by their friendly “ foxie”. The accommodation was well appointed and clean and the dinner was satisfying. A little off the main road but a pleasant stopover out of town.
