This hotel has been sympathetically built to compliment the natural surroundings - right on the edge of Pilanesberg National Park. Service was wonderful, food was excellent, safaris were great. The room was adequate in size (a family room with two double beds - wish there was a bunk-bed option as our teenagers are not too keen on sharing) and overlooked gardens. A problem with the air-con was attended to and fixed immediately - good service. Pool is nice and refreshing. WiFi was on a limit (seems like most hotels in SA use this system) of 500MB but it was cheap to buy extra credit. I would definitely stay here again.
A stand-out staff member was Dorah van Rooi - she provided excellent service in the restaurant.

Just as last time. A great holiday. One rainy, almost chilly day resulted in the need for a mug of hot chocolate and a raincoat but otherwise a perfect temperature for the shorts! Some great wild life watching and close encounters with the elephants and Rhino. The weaver birds were in the trees around the lodge nesting this time and we were lucky enough to see Cheetah, a family of Mongoose and so many dung beetles that one ended up in the car. I wonder when I will be back again!

My family and I loved it here!

Our room looked out on to the waterhole. As soon as we arrived there was an elephant called 'Amarula' right outside our room. It was amazing! Later in the day a family of Warthogs also came up really close to the fence.

The rooms are of a very high quality.

The game drives happen twice a day. I would recommend the morning one at 5.30am. Even though this is very early, it is the best time of day to see far more animals. It is also not too hot. The game drives last for 3 hours.

After returning from the game drive my family arrived back at the restaurant for breakfast and we had the awesome experience of sitting down to breakfast watching a herd of wildebeest just metres away from us.

I would definitely recommend this lodge.

Room Tip: Choose a room looking out on to the waterhole for the best experience.

When we arrived at the lodge we realized that it was not what we expected. It was much bigger and had a time share section attached to it. There were children all around. We had a ground floor room next to the pool and the people from the time share seemed to frequent the pool. Privacy was a problem and we could not sit on the stoop of the room without being faced with a pool full of children.

The room had absolutely no view and we could just as well have been in a hotel in the middle of a busy city.

The room was however beautiful, large and well equipped. The staff were exceptional and service superb! The food was amazing and drinks were reasonably priced.

We only went on one game drive, but managed to see 4 of the big 5!

I think that the atmosphere of the hotel can be greatly improved by limiting access to pool etc. by people staying in time share.
