Little gem with a beautiful peaceful garden.

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 24 Sept 2016
Jacqueline is is a gracious host with a broad world view. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast with stimulating conversation on the veranda which is set in a beautiful garden. The accommodation was clean, comfortable well equipped and reasonably priced. My wife and I really enjoyed our overnight stay, should we return to Upington in the future La Fugue will definitely be top of our list.

We enjoyed our stay in this cosy, cute garden cottage. All the beds had heating blanket and we even had a heater in the room. Linnen was soft and clean and the owner is a real sweetheart. Thank you for the welcome and homey feel. We would definately visit again!

First of all, Jacky, our host, is just super. From the sumptuous breakfasts and stimulating conversations, she always make us feel like special guests. The garden is stupendous, a true oasis in the desert surroundings - even though the well-situated property borders the Gariep River banks. Sleeping accommodations are tastefully decorated, homely and cozy! This is more than a guesthouse. It is an establishment. A tradition by itself.

We had an overnight stop at la fugue and found property with a garden oasis and an extremely comfortable bed. Jacqueline was very welcoming and hosted us to a gourmet meal which was very tasty. Jacqueline was an excellent and charming hostess.

Thanks for a lovely stop and we will return.

after seeing the website we thought we were in for a lovely surprise and nice little holiday. But this was not the case. The rosini wooden house was extremely hot and stuffy. The airconditioniner cannot provide enough for the size of the room. We booked for 3 adults and only received 2 towels. The bedding was old and clearly not cleaned before our arrival. The pillows felt like wood and the "sleeper couch" was more like a dirty old hard plank like mattress in the floor. Really dissapointing.

I am absolutely sorry, but surprised about your comment because if you see others about the Rossini unit they do not say the same. Furthermore, the aircon has been switched just when you arrived and it takes at least one half an hour until it is in its full capacity. There were plenty of additional towels in the cupboard and you could have helped yourself to your satisfaction - which you did -. The bedlinen were absolutely clean and the cushions you used were decoration cushions; you had soft cushions in the beds and if it was not enough, I was in the house and you could have asked me for some more. The couch is a futton couch on top of which mattrass we did put another foam mattrass to make it more comfortable. Anyway, if you were not satisfied, I was just nearby in the house and you could have asked for me to discuss the matter. instead of just going away without saying a word. I am always available to hear the comments of the guests and find a more suitable solution to meet their requirements. So again I am very sorry about this incident, but I would like to point out again that my staff and myself take great pride in preparing the units to the satisfaction of our guests, Obviously this time we did not succeed and I apologize for this. We rode by motorcycle from Johannesburg and our stay over for a night en route to Springbok was in Upington. I had such a lovely time with Jacqueline it felt like I was visiting my grandmother en route to a holiday. We were welcomed with a lovely warm meal and a comfortable room to stay in (Rossinni). The beds were very comfortable and it had all that one needed to be well rested for another long day in the saddle the following day. We stayed again on our return trip and were relocated to another room (smaller) but the bed was just as comfortable. As she uses solar power for the hot water the shower pressure is not as strong as it would be in a normal situation. I have no problem with this as it is doing something for the planet and saving costs. The food was home cooked and she is such a wonderful/entertaining host. Refuge after a long day.

Room tip: Choose Rossinni - nice lovely size
