We decided to stay just outside Kruger and do a self drive holiday.
Highgrove House gave us as much as it promised - quiet lush colonial location in a gated working Macadamia and avocado farm.
Delicious nightly 6 course dinners were included with a lovely breakfast which gave us enough time to explore the surrounds including the Panorama route and of course Kruger Park.
The rooms are very spacious with indoor/ outdoor showers and we even had a nice wood fire in our lounge to keep us warm at night.
We were particularly appreciative of our friendly host Tracy who always made us feel welcome and also found Johlene the manager very kind and helpful with travel and other advice.
The other staff were always so welcoming, helpful and their service was faultless.
For those wanting a relaxing and reasonably priced 5 star stay in the Kruger area then this is the place for you.
My advice is hire a car and drive - it’s barely 45 minutes from Nelspruit Airport and similar distance to the Parks and the roads are easy to drive on.
Would love to come and stay again.

Accomodation, staff, service and food was beyond our expectations. A big thank you to Tracy, Johlene, Ethel, the tremendous kitchen crew, the lovely ladies from the Spa and the helpful guards escorting us to and from our accommodation every night. We mentioned the food already, chef and staff is outstanding and so is the breakfast service for those, who travel early to Kruger. Wow, what a service and really at every hour of the day. Impressive! You all made our stay unforgettable! We recommend High Grove to everybody that wants to combine Kruger with an incredible stay in probably one of the best guest houses in the South Africa!
