We were placed in Fitzpatrick's. There was only 3 rooms in this part. We arrived and was greeted immediately. The food was amazing. Precious took care of your every need. Before we thought we needed something she had it there. The safari was great. David followed tracks and we were able to see the big 5. He spent a lot of time to make sure we saw what we had on our agenda. He was even as excited as us. Since it was 3 rooms we did our safari's with them. We had a great time with one family. However the other family there did not want to associate with our family and the other one. Was very uncomfortable to relax when in the resort. The rooms are great and everyone takes care of you. My only disappointment was the other family left before us. They had help with bags and all of the staff said good bye with hugs etc. We left later and no one but Precious said good bye. It was a let down at the end of our trip, it left us wondering what went wrong. Was an empty feeling to an awesome trip.

We were so fortunate to see the Big 5 on two consecutive drives while staying at Jock Safari - what a thrill! The habitat has lower grass and few trees so we were able to see multiple sightings of giraffes, zebras, elephants, lions, rhinos, hyenas, hippos, buffalo and amazingly, leopards! The rangers are knowledgeable and staff were polite and helpful. The rooms were well appointed and the outdoor showers a treat! Pack in layers as the open jeep can get cold in the winters.

Jock Safari Lodge is a little piece of heaven in the African bush!
Our lodge was simply beautiful. The decking overlooking the river bed was amazing. The outdoor shower was great and the bed was so so comfy.
The food was delicious- and I am a fussy eater! There is something for everyone. I loved the set up of meal times. Eating with your group and your ranger is such a nice way to get to know each other and reflect on your days adventures.
The people were just lovely. Each member of staff seemed so enthusiastic about their job and genuinely interested in us. A special thanks to Leighann & Naomi who helped my partner to plan the most perfect proposal and also to the other staff who made everything go smoothly and went out their way to make us feel special.
The most important part- the safari drives! We were so lucky to be given Jacob as our ranger. He is amazing. He made sure each drive felt different and special and the amount of animals he was able to track was really outstanding. His knowledge about the animals is to be admired and the genuine care he felt for them was so obvious to us. It is Jacob who really made our trip special and we thank him so much for all he showed us and taught us.
It was not the huge number of animals we saw that made the drives so special though it was the actual experiences we observed. I will never forget driving round a bend and coming across a breeding herd of elephants digging up the river bed to find some water or coming across 2 lionesses tearing apart a buffalo whilst the vultures and hyenas patiently waited in the background. Seeing a baby giraffe get milk from its mum, watching little hyena cubs playing with sticks and looking on as an older female elephant taught a baby elephant how to dig for roots were all incredible experiences that went way beyond what I ever expected to get out of our safari.
We very much approached this trip as a once in a lifetime opportunity for us but we have fallen in love with Kruger and Jock Safari Lodge and we will both be trying very hard to come back one day.

Room tip: all lodges are amazing

We went on our first safari and I had conditioned my mind to a few days of "roughing it", upon arrival it was clear that was not necessary. The suite was nicely decorated with a large bed, nice accessories, seating and a great bath area complete with claw foot tub. The outdoor area is also very inviting, complete with a day bed and a few lounge chairs. The plunge pool was also a nice touch. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable, the food was incredible and our ranger Jacob was outstanding (We saw the Big 5 and more! Some incredible sunsets and sunrises with great vistas). The rest of the staff was also very friendly, Mumsey in the curio shop was a doll and helped us find just the right souvenirs. Don't hesitate to book the Jock Safari! I wanted to give a 4.5, the -0,5 is to encourage some sprucing in the near future. A fresh coat of paint in the toilet area and outdoor shower in the next year would keep this wonderful resort at the top of it's game. Cheers!

I can not rate Jock Safari Lodge enough. The 3 nights me and my partner spent at Jock Safari Lodge were outstanding. Our ranger was Patrick and by the end of our short stay he felt like a true friend. He could not have been more accommodating and he showed genuine care towards us with an interest in helping us have the best trip possible. We were pleasantly surprised to have been in a car with only 4 of us and Patrick. It felt very personalised and we were able to make friends with another couple from the same country as ourselves. This lodge is the definition of luxury. The staff are the most friendly and caring. They were always keen to talk to us and were willing us to have the best possible time. What you see on the game drive is obviously down to chance and being in the right place at the right time (and a lot of hard work and communication among rangers) but we managed to find the big 5 and Soo many more and that was down to our fabulous ranger who we couldn't praise enough! Patrick was able to spot animals with ease even when we were on our evening drive in the absolute pitch dark. He could give us a full description of the animals as well as answer all our questions. The lodge was immaculate and the personal touches with hot water bottles and cards and chocolates on the bed everyday was really special. Naomi and AB always had time to come over and talk to us in the restaurant and were both so genuine and kind. We were made to feel like part of the Jock Lodge family during our stay. The food and hospitality offered were out of this world. My partner and I are both vegetarian and were catered for without a fuss at all. Dinner in the boma was something special and I have left Jock Lodge with nothing but happy memories I can treasure for a life time! Thank you so much to all the staff. I can't recommend Jock Lodge enough and will definitely be returning in the future!!
We also want to say a special thank you to all the staff who helped to organise our engagement night and keep it a secret! It was the most perfect evening and you really pulled out all the stops thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
