We had a lovely stay,we would like to say a huge thank you to IKE the assistant manager who made our stay a memorable one, nothing was too much trouble for him, he was very helpful.
We had most breakfast mornings in outer chalet looking out onto the river bed where Rhino came walking past
The only dissapointment was our ranger, very arrogant and so we opted to only do 1 game drive, he also talked us out of doing a walking safari saying the grass was to high.
We did not let this spoil our stay and we will go back.

Loved Jock Safari! I was a little hesitant about staying at Jock Safari Lodge as it was in Kruger Park, I didn't think we would get the full experience of a Safari, boy was I wrong, it was awesome! I can't get over the knowledge of the guides that took us out, they certainly know where to find the animals. Because Jock has its own private concession it wasn't just driving around the park it was exploring their property which only Jock Jeeps can do. One of the things I found amazing was sitting having lunch at the lodge while a rhino or elephant is grazing right in front of you. Food was delicious, service was top notch and accommodations were perfect.

I loved Jock Lodge. It has all the right ingredients for a great bush experience. The room was beautiful with a private plunge pool and day bed. The staff were very attentive and well-organised. The game drives were amazing and there were never too many people on the vehicle. I'm a native South African and I highly recommend it.

We were not able to get in to the main lodge as it was fully booked, but instead managed to get a room at the smaller Fitzpatricks at Jocks, which is a 3 room lodge about a mile from the main lodge. There is a spa and bar at the main lodge, but you have to get a lift there and back as it was not safe to walk.

On arrival we were allocated a good sized double room which had a private patio overlooking the river bed. It was quite dark in the room and bathroom, but pleasant with a comfortable bed. There was a safe and a hair drier in the bedroom and a shaving socket in the bathroom which also had 2 wash basins and a lovely roll top bath. There was also a dressing area and large walk in shower with sliding glass doors to the patio. We were not overlooked so that was fine.

The two other rooms were occupied also whilst we were there and we spent most of our time with the other two couples, as we shared the Safari (jeep with 9 seats) morning and night as well as all meals, sitting at the same table served at the same time. We were not aware of how this would be before arrival, but fortunately the other two couples were lovely and good company, not sure what it would have been like otherwise. I think this lodge is usually used for bigger parties travelling together.

I enjoyed the food which was of a good standard and there were always a couple of choices. The wine also was good, although with the early starts we didn't drink too much in the evenings.

We left for a Safari trip about 05:30 in the mornings and got back for around 08:30 for breakfast and evenings we were back out at around 16:30, returning about 19:30 for Dinner. Lunch was served around 13:00 and there were small snacks mid-afternoon and before going out in the mornings. Tea and Coffee could be made in the rooms, but it was always available in the lounge/dining area where there was a coffee machine too as opposed to the instant coffee in the rooms.

The staff were helpful and attentive without hovering over you and the Safari trips enabled us to see most of the animals we came to see. There were certainly plenty of Elephants, Rhinos and Giraffes as well as the Impala who were everywhere and we got to see many more too from Tortoises to a Hyena family (the babies were so cute and fluffy). On top of that was the amazing views across the plains.

We have stayed twice 3 years apart and both times we have had an incredible time - we thought we would never match the game viewing of our first trip but we were wrong - our second trip was equally as good if not better with the Big 5 every day! The guides and staff are amazing and really make you feel special as returning guests. The rooms have a private enclosure with plunge pools and amazing views. We will be back as soon as we can.
