I would have loved to have spent more time at Nsele during our 2-week safari. The hosts were friendly and warm company and Olaf gave us a great day drive and an interesting night drive. Stephanie's cooking was quite good too. I'd return there if we were to ever travel South Africa again.

Great setting in the bush. However road leading to it is absolutely awful and back breaking. It is a fair distance from Kruger so takes a while to get there and back.
Olaf and Stephanie are great hosts. She made us lovely meals and Olaf took us for a whole day's drive to Kruger. He's very knowledgeable and keen to show you as much as possible.
Chalets are what you would expect in the bush. A bit dark and our room was very stuffy as the fan had only one speed- slow. Didn't want to open the windows which didn't have nettings, for fear of insects.
You are made to feel very welcome here

The roads leading to Nsele Safari Lodge is Designed for 4x4 or 2x4 vehicles only. Do not go with any other vehicle. The owners fail to mention the its 14km of dirt road. The food isn't 3star quality. Breakfast is a cold buffet. The only thing hot they offer you is toast and tea or coffee. Supper is dry flavourless braai meat.
The pathways leading to the rooms aren't lit up.
The game drive vehicle is absolutely filthy and has plenty of spider webs and bugs in it. They don't offer you a cloth to wipe your face afterwards. Luckily for us the other holiday makers spotted the wild animals during the game drive. The lodge merely offers a bed for guests to sleep on.
There's no other entertainment at the lodge. The owners should've done deals with tourist attractions in the area and used their vehicles to take their guests to the tourist attractions.
The owner mentioned a incident that took place where only the clean towels were stolen from the washing line. Makes a guest wonder if they wash all towels.

The owners are extremely welcoming and friendly.

However I would much rather pay a little extra and stay at Thornybush which has the big 5 and provide entertainment for guests who don't have to seek entertainment out of the lodge.

Firstly if you want to visit this venue with a normal motor vehicle DON'T!! YOU will damage your car and this is not told to you even if you ask the venue about the roads they don't tell you this. To get to the venue you need to travel on a terrible dirt road of about 14km, of which 4km is like a 4x4 trail. It took me 1 hour 30min to drive on this nightmare dirt road.
There is almost no activity at the venue, you need to find your own activities to do.
There is no big 5 at this venue you have to visit the neighboring resorts to see the Big 5.
The food in my opinion is below average.

On the upside the owns are very friendly. However I will never be visiting this venue again.

Sorry about the access road! The good news is that SA Roads department did do some major work in 2017 on the road and hope that the next bush trip will be more positive.

Received a warm welcome by Olaf. Stayed for two nights in a comfortable room and enjoyed Stefanie's home cooked meals. The 'honesty' bar was well stocked and coffee and tea were available all the time. I would recommend this camp to small groups
