Nice and handy

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 03 May 2012
I just returned from few days at the Kruger Park in South Africa and stayed at Zuleika for one night before heading off to see the BIG 5. Lovely check-in, so friendly and easy going. The room had all that we needed and they were so nice to prepare a yummy breakfast box for our early morning departure! The homemade muesli was so good that we had it in two days, so not to waste anything. Very handy with direction and easy to reach if you are on your way to Kruger, it's a really nice place to stay!

From the moment we arrived the staff of this hotel were great. We were greeted warmly and shown to our rooms. We stayed in rooms 14 and 15 which were joned by an internal door. This was ideal for two couples traveling together but also private enough that you couldn't hear a thing when the doors were closed. The bed was comfortable and the rooms very rustic and clean. The meals prepared by Maria were great. The owner was extremely helpful with planning our tour of Blyde River Canyon and the Panorama Route. She even suggested a great little stop off for our onward trip which we enjoyed. I would stay here again and would stay a few more days just for some pure relaxation and getting away from it all.

An ideal place to stay if you want to do the Panoramic Route. The staff were most helpful and friendly. The accommodation was lovely. Breakfast was great and so was the dinner when we chose to stay in during the evening. Would certainly recommend.

I booked at Zuleika for 5 days, me and my husband were there for our honeymoon. We actually booked the luxury room. This was like a home there was a TV, aircorn, cauch ensuit with bath and shower and the room was very clean. We brought our own radio and DVD to watch our wedding photos. One morning we left early @ 4 a.m to go to kruger park and my husband dropped the flash disk in the garden, we realised after we left the lodge that our flash disk is lost with our wedding photos in it. We asked the assistants if they have picked up any flash disk we reported that to the reception. Well that was my bad experience on my honeymoon. But we enjoy ourself. Their hospitality was great, though they dont clean or service their rooms guest had to pay R150 for their rooms to be clean and R50 for swimming towels. But out of that their garden looks nice the pool is sparkle clean and big enough. We booked a self catering room, their plates, cuttlery, glasses are of a good quality. We will go back if we visit hoedspruit again, though we have visited all the tourist attractions since 2009. Keep up the good work Lisa and your friendly assistants. We used Zukieliele as a stopover just before we went into the Kruger, and is an awesome place to just kick back and relax. Very friendly staff and together with the great food and wine, was a brilliant rest just before the 5days in the Kruger Park.

We didn't get to see their newest resident, male Hippo, but maybe next time...

Highly recommend it as either a base for when visiting all the great places in the Eastern Transvaal, Blyde Cannon, Pilgrims rest , Gods Window etc , or just as a stopover like we did. Would definitely go back if we are in the area again.

We stayed for one night, and as it was our first SA. We were not disappointent, but after all we have to say, that in the price area, the quality of the rooms could be better. We had the air conditioning system blowing next to our room, and although this was shut off at night, it was annoying to hear it constantly.

The staff were very friendly though and the food served was good!
