Timbavati Safari Lodge

Timbavati Safari Lodge was our first stop in Africa. First let me say how organized they are, from airport transfers, safaris, change of itinerary etc. Very friendly and accommodating, meal preferences, last minute activity requests (Kylie and Rob). The accommodation are private cabins (rondavels), bed, bathroom and front veranda . The shower was a little odd and is in need of upgrading. The food is plentiful, very fresh and beautifully prepared by the kitchen ladies. The bar, pool, boma and fire pit areas are a great way to spend an evening. And at all times you can watch the local wildlife wander by!!
But it is the game drives that this lodge excels at. With guides like Godfrey you will have memories to last you a lifetime.
We felt like family the whole time.

My partner and I were on our way to Satara however got cut off due to the closing time of the Kruger gates - FYI gates close at 5.30 but travel time can also stop you from getting to your destination. We came across timbavati and loved every minute! The staff are all amazing, Kylie was great and very knowledgable!
The chefs even made a trip out with a flash light down to our room, to make sure we didn't miss the provided dinner, Which was delicious! The pap and sauce is some of the best I've tried!
Being close to Kruger you are able to see wildlife around you, a wildebeest took a drink out of the pool while my partner was at the bar!
An excellent location and welcoming vibe, would definitely go back!

Dear Tinysimmi,
Thank you for reviewing your recent 'spontaneous' visit to Timbavati Safari Lodge. They say never judge a book by its cover so we are glad you had this in mind and still came through the gate :) We are glad you really enjoyed your stay and hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Kruger and South Africa.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Timbavati, can't wait to go back with the whole family. Excellent facilities and everything is crisp and clean. Lovely bar entertainment area with real African bush sunsets. All the staff are super friendly. Food was great with the highlight being dinner in the boma area. A very well run lodge that's in the fairly affordable range. Thank you Kylie & Ryan for an unforgettable week!

Good service at the desk , the restaurant and the room-service.
It made a special appearance: the round house.
There as no airco, instead a van.
A fridge wa also wishful.
The safari-tour from the park as very nice

Me and 3 friends stopped here as part of a holiday and it was fantastic. I'm not going to pretend it was the best place I've ever been but it was great and for the price it was phenomenal.

Location- fantastic, 20-30minutes into Kruger, Zebras hanging out on the grounds on your way back to your room. Also Blyde canyon is on your way back to Joburg and well worth the extra trip.

Facilities- The rooms were really nice, with fantastic bathrooms, very clean and with a lot of privacy which is always nice. The bar, pool area with the Braai were really nice places to relax with a gin and tonic.

Food- not michellin star but enough variety for anyones taste and very tasty, everyone left their breakfast and dinner satisfied.

Service- this is where Timbavati really stands out. All the staff were fantastic. Particularly Kylie who appears to be running that place on her own. She came to make sure we got up for our game drive at 4:30am, was there to chat with us at the end of the day. The bar staff, restaurant staff were all really friendly and we felt very welcome and taken care of our whole trip.

All in all it was a great stay and fantastic at the price.

If you do go make sure you visit Blyde canyon as well. I can't believe we heard so little about it beforehand it was stunning and a great lazy day trip if you're staying at the lodge for a few days.
