Our stay at The Old Hatchery was very pleasant and for the price that we paid we were quite satisfied with the value we got for our money. We stayed in the “Fisherman’s Cottage” which was nice and cosy, consisting of a queen sized bed, a small kitchenette and a Bathroom with a Toilet and Bath. Being the middle of winter we were concerned about “freezing to death” but this was not the case as the unit not only had a fireplace, but also a gas/electric heater and also electric blankets on the bed … so we were truly toasty !
I will however say that the entire lodge is in dire need of maintenance, in our room the ceiling looked like it was on the brink of collapse and ceiling board above the fireplace had come loose and was just hanging there, several broken tiles on the floor were evident just waiting to cut open a toe of an unsuspecting visitor and outside the unit, facia boards were loose and flapping in the wind with several loose slats on the walkways.
Overall though it was a pleasant stay and we will be back based simply on the value and the comfort.
