Really enjoyed staying in this lodge. There are crested guinea fowls roaming freely. Male nyala was right outside of cabin which provided a great photo shot. The cabin was very spacious and comfortable. It felt very private since cabins are spread within property.

Anton and Emma are great hosts. The staff is friendly and makes you feel as if you are part of the family. It was nice to chat in the bar while we waited for dinner to be ready. Food was delicious. I enjoyed the fresh pastries and flaky warm croissants. I looked forward to dinner and dessert.

Room tip: Cabin 4A was pretty close to dining area

Lovely place with lovely people located in a park that is great for doing short to medium walks and for exploring the wildlife. Bianca, Andries and the rest of the staff always look to give the best service to the clients. They serve great meals for a humble price, even going as far as preparing a breakfast for the road.

This is a familiar lodge with an excellent location. All the staff work to do your stay unforgetable. Food is very good and varied. Sorroundings are a good place to walk even at night because there are not dangerous animals.

Room tip: All lodges have a nive view to the forest

The most exceptional element of Umkhumbi lodge is the hosts. Anton and Emma designed and provided us an outstanding South Africa holiday that ranged from kayaking on the Mozambique border, walking up close with rhinos, snake photography within kissing distance, smelling an elephant's breath whilst stood under its trunk and seeing first hand all the conservation work they and their team do.
The lodge is first class. Our daughter still raves about the desserts served at the lemonade bar. We look back very fondly upon the evenings around the campfire.
Anton has arranged 5 or more holidays for us. They have all been wonderful experiences wherein we've always had the feeling to be immersed within nature.

We stayed for 4 nights with our kids and really enjoyed it. Nothing seemed a stress. Our hosts were welcoming, friendly, helpful and offered a relaxed atmosphere in an idyllic bush setting that they were knowledgeable about.
Comfortable beds in clean rooms with AC. Views out over the bush from the decks. Excellent food (portions slightly too big for the kids though)
We got to go on a nighttime scorpion walk through the local bush with a guide, we were acquainted with a bush baby and our kids loved playing with the two dogs, Copper and Shadow.
This was a really cool place to stay at, and I’d recommend staying there.
