I've visited the Phansi museum many times during my visits to Durban and I am always delighted by the new exhibitions showcasing local artists, as well as by the museum's main collection of African art and crafts.
Be sure to book ahead so you can have a tour with Puminzele, the curator of the museum - which is an unparalleled educational experience.
If you are lucky enough to be their while a school group is touring the museum, you might be fortunate to watch the school children perform a song and/or dance during their visit.
Paul Mikula, the founder of the museum, is hoping to expand their program, so that visitors can also enjoy some hands on time and hopefully get to learn how to make some of the crafts on exhibit.
