For family outings, this place ia a winner for sure. Lot's to keep the kids enjoying the slides, swings etc in the play area.
For a small fee one can go into the Zoo area and what a fantastic collection of birds, monkeys, other reptiles and mammals.
For birthday parties there is a covered gazebo structure which can be hired and one can bring their own chairs and tables. Two birthdays were celebrated here for one of the kids in the clan.
Parking can be a problem with limited bays so sometimes you have to park in the street and walk to the park.

The tickets for entrance are cheap and affordable but there's quite a lot see inside the park. Many birds and a few primates which I always enjoy seeing. There was also Galapagos Tortoises which I'd never seen before! There's lots of other animals as well to see especially if you're an animal lover - It's an old park but don't be put off, it's worth a visit if you're staying in Durban.

Mitchell Park has a little zoo with quite a range of small animals. There is playground equipment and a restaurant. Great family vibes over the weekend.

This is a nice park although over weekends as it is small it gets a little crowded. The lower section is mostly open grass with a nice seating area under a huge tree – suitable for families with children there is a quite large swings and roundabouts area which is fenced off. Although it is changing seasons the upper section has a number of nicely kept flower displays. There is a restaurant and a small zoo (see separate report) – central to the Berea area it is a nice place for a stroll and some refreshment.

We often go to Mitchell Park on family outings. It has a lovely tea garden, park with slides, swings and much more. The big attraction for us though is that we have a big animal.lover in our family and they have a lovely mini-zoo which has an array of different animals to see. The 100-plus tortoise in this park is a must see. Definately recommend a visit to this Park!
