Coming here is just like arriving home, or better, arriving at your parents home!

Everything is quite relaxed and the entire space is really nice just to hang out and have a grew at time. You are also well located in the city in a nice neighborhood.

The guys there are also super nice an welcoming!

I would say the rooms may need some minor fixings but overall is a very pleasant stay.

We were so fortunate to choose to stay here, quite by chance. A beautifully appointed b&b and so very quiet and peaceful away from the bustle of the city, and yet
conveniently situated. Wonderful spacious room and bathroom, very comfortable and
luxurious with so many thoughtful touches and a lovely garden. The food was
excellent and we also had an amazing curry supper! Our charming hosts were most helpful and obliging. This is definitely the only place we will chose to stay in Durban in future.

A beautiful home set in the heart of the Berea. Comfortable accommodation, friendly service and a delicious breakfast. Safe and secure environment within easy access to restaurants and shops. Gracious and helpful hosts.

A beautiful B & B with friendly people. My only real complaint would be the hourly chiming of the grand father clock which was extremely annoying and affected sleep quality.
Also the room was not properly cleaned. The cupboard and under the desk.

Essenwood House is our favourite B & B in Durban. Rooms are elegant, tastefully decorated with fresh flowers and fluffy towels.
The location allows easy access to restaurants, beaches and the amenities of Durban
