It is a problem, when you have a special occasion you want enjoy the meal, the atmosphere and simply have fun and to do this our family do not want to experiment, so we go to the Delfi Greek Taverna.

As it was on Saturday night a double birthday celebration, my son and I, we love it as does my wife. We started off with mixed Meze platters, dolmades, squid-heads, the whole bundle, super pick-and-nibble fun dinning. The two males ordered "Maria's Prawns", chilli version for mains, a half-hour of hot tasty, bliss. My wife had the beef kebab as she is a carnivore by nature. Truly great mains and enjoyed by all and their chips are superb.

The Greek custard pastries for dessert finished the night with the sweetness of the entire experience. I've read some strange reviews below on the Delfi from individuals who obviously do not understand what an authentic Greek Taverna should be. Having been to Greece quite often when the Drachma was the currency of the day, the Delfi to me, epitomises the experience. Thank you ladies always the place to rely on.

We have been going to this little greek taverna for quite a few years and find it very friendly and cosy and the prawns are to die for . There is a care guard there.

We were recommended to try this restaurant by friends .
The area is not the greatest at night , parking is on the street ,but there is a car guard on duty . We had to wait a few moments for one of the staff to open the security door , never a great sign. The decorations are sorely in need of updating, and the ambience is somewhat stark .
The lemon chicken was full of bones . Quite tasty, but fiddly to eat , it would have been better to have had a full breast instead .
The Brinjal stack was just okay , I can't rave about it as others have done .
If you are a vegetarian I would give this restaurant a miss , there is a very limited choice of suitable dishes .
a reasonably good wine menu is available and a corkage charge of R 30 applies should you elect to bring your own .
I won't be back , there are much better restaurants available in Umhlanga village

I popped in to try out this world famous Baklava. it was average. Good walnut filling - not any pistachhios - drenched in syrup and possibly a wee bit of rum(yeah) Im sorry i am a baklava addict and this scores me like a 4 out of 10. But I still state that I may have gotten the odd corner piece and I do recommend you try it out for yourself. 40ZAR for a piece - tad bit pricey for what I had.
