A frequent business traveler to Sandton and staying between 1-2 weeks a time. Stayed her before and had no problems. decided to return as the hotel is lovely. Ok, its expensive but has all the amenities and a great location.

I will not be returning to this hotel and am happy in the thought that they are not receiving my money for a 2 week stay after the most recent time I checked out they over charged me about ZAR 6,500. They advised that the rate had changed from our corporate rate to the normal rate, without prior notification. The front desk manager was less than helpful and gave no consideration to our argument. This all happened because we asked to check out for a few days which they also kicked up about. It should have been a simple check out and back in 2 days later.

The hotel otherwise is clean and pleasant.

Beautiful Hotel with absolutely wonderful staff, service, amenities & location.
Excellent breakfast buffet with many choices. We used room service meals in the evening for our 3 night stay with friends before touring, served in the Intermezzo guest lounge.
Very very safe with direct access to Mandela Square & Sandton Mall.
Great half day tours and Airport pickup/departure arranged as requested.
Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful staff.
Don't hesitate to book!

Be careful - there are two Michelangelo hotels in Sandton. This review is for the Michelangelo hotel, not the Michelangelo Towers which is different.

This turned out to be a fantastic hotel choice, even if it was for just one night in Johannesburg. The hotel is in a great location. It’s a short 100 metre walk from from the Gautrain station in Sandton and is on Nelson Mandela square meaning it’s just across the plaza from the main Sandton shopping centre.

The hotel itself was lovely, with very well appointed and spacious rooms which included a bath. The decor was in a faux-renaissance style which was t a refreshing change from so many other five star hotels which all start to look the same after a while.

The gym was OK for a hotel gym (usable but not spectacular). The hotel breakfast was one of the best I have had in recent memory. I would happily stay here again.

I stayed at the Michelangelo hotel for a week for business. The room was spacious, the staff nice, the hotel is safe, I liked breakfast, there is a nice evening bar to get a range of cocktails (tip: get the drink served by one of the cocktail masters, not all barmen have this 'degree'). The hotel is next to Nelson Mandela Square, which features a great number of restaurants: meat (from beef to ostrich), sushi, etc. All in all a great choice to stay in Joburg.

This is possibly the most service oriented hotel I have ever stayed at. Responsive, fast, polite, nothing was too much. My room was very comfortable with a lovely bottle of wine waiting for us. The hotel decor is a little too "grand" for my tastes (think Vegas) but the quality is undeniable. Breakfast service was great and the hotel is well served by several different restaurants on its doorstep in Nelson Mandela square and the vast interconnected malls. Really very pleased with my stay and happy to recommend for future visitors to Sandton.
