My husband and I went for dinner one Friday evening, and had a great time. The service was fabulous, vibe was lively, food good and the gin cocktails addictive!

Was one of those days where we couldn’t decide where to for lunch! Destination was set for Brooklyn and closer to Brooklyn decided on Carbon Bistro. And we were lucky, because our friends also opted for the same place. We joined them at their table and enjoyed lunch together. A few G&T’s later, our food arrived (steaks and burgers). Food was good and tasty! The dessert was out of this world! Included on my recommendation list!!

We had an impromptu late lunch. Everything was perfect. My husband had the best gin and (cucumber) tonic in his life! Yes it was showy and dramatic, so it makes a change from the average restaurant around. Lloyd was a very attentive waiter, Ruan a very attentive manager. We shared starters of freshly battered and cooked salt and pepper calamari, duck parfait beautifully presented, then I had lobster tail and scallops beautifully moist and my husband the chicken livers. Just to ensure we were on a roll we shared beignets on a banana sauce for desert. Where else in Pretoria does one get beignets? Our Vegan daughter will be pleased to come as there are Vegetarian options anyway and we were told they would be modified to suit her, so the whole family can eat together. If it is a bit pricey, it is worth it as everything was perfect and we left feeling we have great value for our money.
Will be back soon. Well done. I'm glad we just pulled in and went in, instead of driving on.

I have to do a second review as we were so impressed with the superb meal we had yesterday! To avoid the rush & ineviatble bad service one receives on Mother's Day we decided to go on the Saturday before. I have been wanting good prawns for a long time as the prawns one gets at the seafood restuarants are floury & taste as if they have been boiled served with mediocre sauces to cover up. Previously I had noticed Carbon Bistro had prawns on their menu at a price! But being a celebration we decided to have them. WOW! WOW! of the best I have ever had! They were huge - bigger than langostines & grilled to perfection a lime & coriander basting sauce. Sublime! We finished off the meal with desserts recommended by Juliet our waitress. A deconstructed Creme Brule & a cheesecake with a mango mousse. I am not a dessert eater but would go back for either of these. As we have come to expect the Gins were first class. I could become a Gin drinker if I visit Carbon Bistro often enough. I am more & more impressed with this establishment everytime we go. Is definitely top of my list of eateries in Pretoria at the moment. The restrooms are spotless, the staff friendly & efficient, the Manager charming & helpful & of course the food is very good.Do not miss going to Carbon Bistro!
