To say The Orient is just a hotel is an understatement. It is an experience.

We flew into the Lanseria airport and at the recommendation of the hotel were picked up by a private car service for our 30 minute ride to The Orient.

From the moment we were driven through the conservatory to the magnificent gated entrance we knew this was a very special place. There are trails to explore around the property with animals and birds along all the routes. The grounds are stunning with natural grasses, plants and vegetation growing wild in their natural environment, an Asian influenced garden with a Buddhist temple and meditation garden. Every corner was a place of beauty including the outside patio and intimate pool area.

We were welcomed by Surprise and she did such a wonderful job taking care of us for our entire stay. No request went unanswered. And the attention to detail that she supplied was what really made our stay incredible. Beautifully presented food at breakfast on our private balcony, drinks brought to our room to enjoy the sunset, a teddy bear with sprig of lavender placed inside a book of poetry and left on our bed during turn down service. So many things that mean so much.

We stayed in the Marrakesh Suite which is one of the nicest suites in the hotel. The suite which included a separate day-room was immediately beside the balcony and had a sitting area, a separate room with day bed and its own ensuite. Our main suite had a king size bed, writing desk, minibar and antique armoire. Being a corner suite it also had 4 large windows overlooking the mountains on one side and the valley on the other. Our large ensuite had two sinks, a free standing roman tub, padded bench, bidet, large shower with rainfall shower head and a separate room with a toilet.

The owner Mari, made sure to check in with us to ensure we were enjoying our stay. While we were only there for one night, it was a glorious stay. This is certainly a place to treasure and would be a wonderful treat for any special occasion.

We had the opportunity to do a wine tasting and food pairing at Mosaic Restaurant at the Orient. What a mind blowing experience. Not only is Chantal's food a lovely bombardment of all your senses, but Kobus's cellar is a more than worthy partner. The staff is very knowledgable, friendly and goes out of their way to accommodate you. We stayed over at The Orient and was treated from the moment we set foot inside the oppulent gates. There are a few routes you can walk, but these were not so clearly marked. Luckily the Estate is not so big that you can get lost. Breakfast was another feast for our eyes and senses. This is a definite must-do if you love food and love to be treated.

This place is a true oriental oasis not far from Pretoria. It’s an outstanding place for special occasions and a place to cherish. Somewhere to get away from the madding crowds and just enjoy.

The decor takes you straight to The orient and plunges you into life during the Raj. The rooms are fun. The whole atmosphere so relaxing. The food, of course, is out of this world. The service top class. The little details make all the difference. Can’t wait to go back.

A five star hotel which has such attention to detail in all decor throughout this beautiful establishment. The owners have obviously hand picked the interiors through their travels from Morocco to India. Well appointed suites in a 'Moroccan palace'.
The staff are sincere, friendly, well-trained, professional and efficient.
Special hotel features the Tienie Pritchard gallery, displaying magnificent sculptures.
There is also a 20+ seater cinema which you can book to watch classic movies!
A very romantic getaway that is a perfect location to ignite flames of passion.

Room tip: Katmandu has its own private dining area off the room. Rooms do not have TV. It is a romantic disconnect.
