Incredible

Review of Vineyard Hotel
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 Feb 2024
Cannot recommend this hotel enough and the staff are what make it so wonderful. Of course the views of the mountains don’t hurt either! You will feel so welcome and cared about and very much at home. The Mountain View rooms are well worth the extra cost. I have stayed at many 5 star hotels and for me The Vineyard is better than a lot of these in terms of facilities and service. It’s very central for many attractions in Cape Town, being not too far from the waterfront or boulders and cape point. Very close to Constantias wine route as well.

Our stay at the Vineyard Hotel was as good as it gets. What a beautiful hotel only made better by the most considerate and charming and knowledgeable staff. Our room was very clean and had everything you need. The bed super comfy and the best bit super soft pillows. The restaurant was lovely decor wise and the breakfast superb. Had dinner there most nights and they exceeded expectations.

We have of course already booked for next year.

Room tip: Pool area is exquisite

Beautiful grounds, helpful and friendly staff, crisp and clean room, great location for getting to all the main tourist sites. The patio restaurant gets four stars for some minor reservation confusion, but that was easily worked out and my family had several enjoyable meals there. The breakfast buffet is delicious, and there wasn't an additional charge for valet parking, which was always an efficient process.

A special birthday celebration with 15 friends. High tea is booked for two hours. Food arrived after an hour which meant we were under pressure to finish eating in the hour remaining. Two of the ten kinds of tea on offer were out of stock. A portion of beef kibbeh was underdone, and had to be sent back to the kitchen.
I really expected more from this Four Star Hotel.

Hello Karen

Thank you for sharing your experience, I am so sorry it felt short in our delivery. There has been an issue with our supplier for the 2 tea varietals , really apologize for this and that it took away from your full experience. We generally find an hour for the treats is sufficient but I can imagine for a Birthday celebration , you would want it longer with all the talking and excitement. I will look into this. I have shared your feedback with our Kitchen Team with regards to the Kibbeh.

We really do try our best to make our guests Birthday's special and it does sadden us to hear that we did not contribute to the enjoyment of this special birthday.

Best Regards
Gillian

Really surprised that this gets such good press. The rooms are moderate, lacking in character and tired. The hotel is very crowded a testament to its popularity but don’t stay here if you like space. The swimming pool was reminiscent of a very crowded beach in summer, 5 rows tightly stacked. The restaurants are forgettable and the food is moderate at best. Trading on past glories.

Hello Floriston

Thank you for sharing, I am so sorry to hear that you feel this way about our property. It is true that we have had a really busy season, the pool can become super busy at certain times of the day. We are planning a maintenance program for winter this year to touch up on the tired areas.

We hope your last experience does not keep you away.

Best Regards
Gillian

My son and I stayed at the vineyard for 8 nights in janauary.
We have stayed all over the world in 4 and 5 star hotels and this is the best hotel we have stayed in. In our opinion it should be a 5 star.
From the moment you arrive you are greeted at your car with smiling faces and made to feel welcome.
Nearly every staff member we encountered in our stay were friendly helpful and smiling with waves and good mornings.
A huge thank you to olona on the front desk who was superb.her smiling face and eagerness to help were a breath of fresh air.she truly is lovely and every hotel needs an olona !
Rooms..we had a mountain facing room which was lovely. Tastefully decorated. Spotless. Nespresso machine with pods .huge bath and walk in shower. Powerful hair dryer. Fridge. Free bottles of water and milk daily. Smart TV where we could watch all our premier league and fa Cup games which was great for us !
Fast free WiFi throughout the hotel.
The view of table mountain was stunning and we still miss it.
Grounds..the grounds were beautiful with waterfall and roaming tortoises. Lush greenery and places to sit to enjoy the spectacular views. There is a river walk in the grounds which is beautiful.
Pools..there is a lovely outdoor pool and a smaller indoor pool with free towels. While we were there there were always free sunbeds .
Food..all I can say is wow. You can eat breakfast in the gorgeous square restaurant or outside which does get busy as this is a conference hotel also although this never bothered us and we easily found a table inside at any time. The breakfast choices are amazing and you can eat from the plentiful buffet or order from the menu. All the food we ate at breakfast, lunch and dinner was superbly cooked and presented.
Sometimes we ate lunch outside and we always tried different things and it was all delicious.
On an evening we ate at the hotel restaurant moori which is a lovely calming atmosphere. The staff are superb and the food is to die for with in between appetisers given for free. Its the nicest food we have ever eaten and we tried many different dishes ...they were all stunning !
The hotel itself is beautiful and low rise not some awful high rise building.it has loads of character and is decorated tastefully. It is a pleasure to be in its calming peaceful atmosphere surrounded by smiling faces.
We travelled a long way from the uk to cape town and we never visit the same place twice but as this hotel was so amazing in all aspects we will one day be coming back to the vineyard to experience its friendliness and luxuries once more.
Thank you to all the vineyard staff who made our holiday so memorable !

Room tip: When eating the outside patio gets really busy at peak times as people from outside the hotel also come to eat and drink here
