Our family of 4 started and ended our first trip to Africa with overnight stays at The Safari Club, which is about 10 minutes from the airport. It was a perfect beginning and ending for our trip. Upon our arrival Alastair picked us up at the airport, returned us later in the day to get a Covid test, then returned by himself to the airport to get the results of the tests. He also arranged a short tour of Johannesburg for us upon our arrival and took us to a large and interesting market prior to our departure. The Safari Club is gated and has a beautiful garden. The rooms are comfortable and the food and service are excellent. Alastair and Jose are exceptionally gracious and friendly hosts and we thoroughly enjoyed staying at The Safari Club.

Thank you for your kind words Dave it was an absolute pleasure having you and your family stay with us.
I hope the items that your wife and daughter purchased at the market will remind them of your visit to Southern Africa and we see you back on our shores

Al & Jose

We were booked at the Safari Club at the start and end of our Kruger safari—and we loved it. Alastair and his wife truly us feel like family. We arrived at the start of a new Covid lockdown—safari club provides our meals, transportation, and information. Everything was delicious and amazing. From allowing us to borrow a hairdryer and outlet converter to the drive to the markets to the delicious braai on our final night. We will always add the Safari Club to any trip to Jo’burg!!

My husband and I stayed one night in transit to Cape Town. Safari Club is not far from the airport. It offers free transfers, which was much appreciated. It is gated and secured. The rooms are average, if a bit dated. Still the room was clean and comfortable. Because travel is still slow to return, we were the only guests. We appreciated the quiet after a 15 hour flight from the US. The imcluded breakfast is a bit sparse, especially for a non egg eating vegetarian, but it was appreciated. It was dark, but the grounds looked lovely.

Room tip: Ask for a room with garden access

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments and booking with the Safari Club.
Our breakfasts are basically continental during Covid and consist of fruit , 3 cereals, yogurt cheese and eggs, bacon and Tomatoes to order as well as Toast if we are aware of vegetarian guests we add croissants.
We will look at an extra option for vegetarians to replace eggs

Alastair

The team met me at the Johannesburg airport when I flew in which was so reassuring for me, and they did it for free! They also dropped me off back at the airport the next day. When traveling alone in a strange city/ country it is so reassuring to have this service from The Safari Club.

Thank you John for your kind words and your encouragement.
As tourism slowly begins to open up we appreciate the efforts people like yourselves have made to travel to South Africa.
We hope your stay will be well worth these efforts and a little bit of South Africa goes home with you
