Owner description: (Open by appointment only.) The stories that lived (and still live) within the walls of the Lindfield Victorian House Museum tell a tale of Johannesburg during an era that, more than any other, shaped urban Johannesburg as we know it today. A tale of the day-to-day family life and fashion trends, masters and servants, elegance, high culture, high teas, social etiquette and intellectual achievements. The spirit of this amazing era lives on in the museum and visitors not only learn its cultural history, but also experience the ambiance of a bygone world.

I was invited to a spend my good friends 50th enjoying a magnificent piece of history & ending of with a fabulous tea in the gardens. Catherine & Pierre were our amazing hosts, took us on an informative tour of the house and were happy to chat and answer questions. The doll house is certainly a highlight as is the library/study. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys anything Victorian and historic.

I visited Lindfield museum with my son and we loved hearing the history lesson we received and the unique personalized service. The museum houses middle english culture household items from the late 1800's and Katharine is the 3rd generation of family collectors and provides an excellent historical tour of the common household everyday objects of a middle class english family, so much attention was paid to customs that are no longer in use today. Katharine is an excellent historian and can answer any question. We loved the high tea complete with Royal Albert tea cups and devonshire scones with real cream (country style), a great way to finish the tour. Highly recommended to those that are looking for something personal and unique.

We only visited on the back of previous TA reviews and glad we did.
Relatives we were staying with were unaware of this place, but a unique experience.
The house is preserved as it was, it is crammed with antiques and yes can imagine not to everyone's taste. However the passion that Katherine has for her life and subjects is incredible and to share and hour or two of that was special.
Joburg is a real juxtaposition of a city for all sorts of reasons. This adds to the mix and should be cherished whilst it can be.
