This is my 8th redbus / city sightseeing tour and 2nd in Africa after the capetown version.

Out of all these tours I can confidently say the joburg version is the least interesting with minimal activities. It was a safe way to see joburg although many of the facts and or commentary was either false or trying to convince passengers that the city is something it is not.

It is no doubt still safer than walking through the city itself although again the commentary and activities were minimal, we even got information about a generic primary school because there must not have been anything else to speak about.

Thank you for your review. I am sorry you felt that the Johannesburg tour was not interesting and that it offered minimal activities. We need to improve how we communicate as there is a LOT to do along our route. Please do bear in mind that Johannesburg is only some 120 years old - before that there was just bush! It was the Gold Rush that formed the city and it should not be compared to Cape Town, just as Sydney and Canberra are very different from each other.

We will continue to try and improve all aspects including the commentary to ensure more visitors fall in love with this African Powerhouse!

The red bus is a very economical and informative way of seeing Johannesburg and Soweto within a day but unfortunately we were let down extremely. With the extension you stop off at Gold Reef for roughly 20/30minutes. And continue on in a smaller bus. The guide on this bus was very entertaining and that's where it ends. We chose to get off at Orlando Towers, where they claimed there is someone who will assist with taking us down to the to the towers and that another bus would arrive in an hour. The bungee jump wasn't working (the organiser's kept giving false promises that it would be back running every 40mins so I recommend calling Orlando Towers before going) and we returned to the bus stand at the hour. No bus! A bus came 2.5hours later which was at capacity with no space to get on and we were told another bus was coming in 30mins. This never arrived. It wasn't until we called the company at least 3 times was another bus arranged to pick us up. It turns out they had also left another couple in Soweto for several hours! We ended up missing the closing time to the Apartheid museum and Mandela's House because of this. Which was very unfortunate as this was our only full day in Johannesburg. It has potential but I cannot say this is a reliable service.

Thank you for your review. We have followed this up with the operator of the Soweto portion of our tour and are a little concerned about this review as it does not tie up with any factual information we can track down. The drop off point at the Orlando towers is at the door of the ChafPozi restaurant. It is the exact spot that every Soweto taxi drops and collects at. These run hourly as advertised and we are unable to find any evidence of a day where there was a 2h gap. Likewise, I have checked with our call center staff and none of the staff recall receiving a distress call about this matter. I am not trying to discount the above facts but can only imagine you were waiting inside the restaurant and perhaps missed one of the Soweto taxi vehicles which we use on this service.

All the same, it is the first complaint of this nature. We have discussed this again between all staff and can assure you that we have accurate messaging between the taxi's about who is getting off where and where to get back on. We also have chaperones at all stops (except this one). One of the outcomes is that we will now also place a staff member at this stop, despite the uptake of passengers getting off for the bungee jump being very low.

Apologies for any inconvenience incurred - we hope it did not mare your Johannesburg experience and we hope to welcome you back soon
