A very comprehensive account of the social history of South Africa. The story board is very well done and provides an excellent insight into the social struggles of the Nation and its turning points over the decades. Also a compelling outline of the incredible Nelson Mandela the man, his background, what drove his passion and his journey to bring about change with his colleagues. Highly recommended but you need 2.5 hours to do it justice to enable an appreciation of the various chapters and twists in the social reform efforts from many perspectives. NB. No photos inside the exhibit

We learned so much from visiting this venue. I grew up in South African and now live in Australia and really didn't understand what was happening in South Africa in the days I lived there. This is a must visit facility.

A must, probably worth seeing before going to visit Soweto or Constitution Hill or other historical sites, as the panels, pictures and films in the Museum explain very well how the events developed.

This is the best museum I've ever been to. Carefully construed in a way that enables you to travel through time and to understand the intricacies of apartheid, both in the past, present and future. We ended up spending over 5 hours here, fully immersed throughout. It was a heavy and exhausting experience, but I was so pleased I went as I didn't know it would be SO impactful. If you're thinking of going, please do go.

Very informative and A LOT of information. The museum was a lot bigger than it seemed and stuffed with stories chronicling the struggles of Apartheid. It was very humbling. My only critique is on the organization of the museum. It was sometimes confusing to navigate. Loved the Nelson Mandela wing but the story was a bit out of order for me.
