We stayed for one night, in June, as part of a touring holiday and were very happy to leave. Having read the reviews we were looking forward to receiving a warm welcome, which never materialised. our reception was luke warm and that was the warmest part of our stay. We felt at though we were an inconvenience as we were the only guests that night.

The weather was cold and the guest house is not equipped to deal with this type of weather. The window in the bathroom was open and did not close from inside, which didn't help. We had to go outside to close it. The bathroom was a beautiful large room, however there was a small panel heater on the wall, which made little difference to the rooms temperature. As such we could not enjoy the room and it was too cold to shower. Thankfully we only stayed one night.

There was a 2.5 hour power cut in the area that night and I was disappointed to find out that this was a planned outage and the owners never thought to advise the tour company of this. The lodge is not equipped to deal with this. We spent an uncomfortable night trying to stay warm, which was not made any easier by the beds. Our room had 2 twins pushed together with single bedding, which meant that cuddling together to try and keep warm was out of the question. During our stay in South Africa we found that other hotels had measures in place to help guests during power outage periods. Little things like hot water bottles and thermos jugs, measures that are inexpensive but can make a huge difference.

Breakfast quality was lovely and cooked well. Unfortunately, the dining room had no heating and was cold which spoiled the experience.

I am of the opinion that the guest house should not accept guests in the winter months unless the owners are prepared to invest in adequate warmth. I appreciate that South Africa is generally a hot country, out of the 6 hotels that we stayed in this was the only one that lacked in providing essential adequate heating.

Room Tip: Don't go in the winter months

My brother-in-law and I thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay at this lovely lodge. We embraced the friendliness of the owners, the location, and our rooms were both very comfortable. Returning from dinner to a crackling fire was a highlight of the day. Staff were charming and very efficient. The breakfast was very enjoyable, overlooking the golf course.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are great, and there are 2 budget rooms for travellers watching their pennies.

Set in the picturesque Eastern Cape, This is the ideal getaway spot. Our room was very spacious and modern with all the necessary facilities. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed the excellent breakfast every morning. The guest house is close to the shops and restaurants and the view of the golf course is breathtaking. We will definitely be back!

the staff was very helpfull and friendly. The room is beautifull with a king size bed. The bathroom is enormous. The breakfast was very tasty, and to much to eat. Ideal for golfers. St Francis Links are just across the road.
